You may well be right and certainly you are entitled to your opinion. I won't insult you by insinuating that you are deluded.

I'm generally a glass half full person but I am very much progress focused. I've played several sports at a decent level and have always prioritised performance over result, particularly in tennis. I want to feel that I have played well, I honestly don't care if I win or not. I figure that if I continue to play well, winning will be a byproduct of my performance.

Yes, we have played well at times, but in general I would say that we have played poorly more often even if the results have been good.

I guess that my issue is that I don't see where we are going. What is conte trying to produce?

I also don't like or enjoy low-block football at all. I think it is outdated and has been superceded by the high press as the dominant philosophy in modern football.

Ultimately, I watch spurs because they are one of the passions of my life. When they aren't giving me that passion I will complain about it.

If I am ruining the forum with my constant negative focus, as you assert, the mods are free to remove me.
I think what some are forgetting is actually how well we played at the back of end last season scoring goals for fun. So surely that proves that Conte is capable of getting this team playing that way, no? Nobody knows why we start slow or on the back foot. It could be preserving energy in a ridiculous schedule pre World Cup, fear, opposition imposing onto us (or likely a mixture of things).

The fact we aren't playing so well first halves yet keep on winning or at the very least getting draws is a positive thing to think about. Each second half, especially the last three games, shows what this side is capable of. That in itself should give you and others signs of what we can do.

I also don't buy winning in the last minute lucky as some have suggested. We were better than them second half, much like Bournemouth and much like Sporting.

I see progress in this team personally. We just have to wait until after the World Cup break to really gauge things.

If I'm honest, and I've said all season, we are not playing near our best. We have been disconnected with no real fluidity to our games and with Son a shadow of himself we've not had the threat up front.
That said for the most part we've been getting the results and that shows how good we can be.
We will improve I am certain our best time of the season will be the second half of it and that alone ought to frighten our opponents.
Last night showed us we've got the heart and fight to succeed and when we gel we will succeed.

I was shocked by Moura yesterday, he’s always had a poor touch at times and head down playing style but always had pace to contribute.

yesterday he looked done, no acceleration or top end speed he literally looked like he had lead boots.

You're a funny guy/girl. You have people on here insulting each other, insulting the players and manager, yet because I happen to disagree with you, you want to remove me after 18 years of membership where the vast majority of my posts have been positive and have contributed towards making this such a great forum?

Go ahead a and c. Do what you need to. I'll continue to express my thoughts whether they are popular on not. If not here, then elsewhere.

You do you.

I keep coming back to this - at the time, it felt like the Ref was "punishing" Spurs for time-wasting, by allowing the game to continue well past the 4 minutes, and I expected him to finally blow the whistle when Spurs cleared it - so, its even more amazing that Kane had the presence, and Hojbjerg had the energy to sprint down the field, when they knew a draw put them into the CL knockouts.

Just an insane end to the game.
I don't actually think the ref would have blown when he did if Hojberg had lost the ball instead of scoring. I'm pretty certain he'd have let them come forward and try again but after the goal there wasn't any point.

Fuck all this negative bullshit, the incessant whinging about Conte from some posters is making the forum unpleasant IMO.
It's the same posters, making the same posts over and over and over again.
It's not discussion or debate, its just doubling down with no-one willing to budge an inch.

So today marks the beginning of (*drumroll......................) Ignoreathon 2022™ !!!, let's get my Tit List into treble figures!

100%. He was awful. I see why conte doesn't want to use gil because he does lose the ball a lot. But, moura literally offered nothing at all yesterday and gil should have come on at half time.

Not sure what the issue is.
4 mins of (minimum) injury time.

We brought Bryan on at 90mins, so extra 30secons.

Seemed spot on to me.

Is there a tactics forum? I'd be happy to hear what others have to say about what they feel Conte is trying to do. I also think that the trophies/performance debate is an interesting one.

And then he would probably have been awful and he should have kept Lucas on.

One of the first players that need to be shipped out. Offers absolutely nothing to the squad, he is past his best (which was bang avarage except of the game against Ajax).

We did play well at the back end of last season, but even then there were people questioning the long term efficacy of the low block/counterattacking approach. You give the initiative to the opponent and if they score, particularly away from home, it can be hard to turn it around.

Out of genuine interest, what aspects of the team do you feel have improved?

It was a tongue in cheek post, not meant seriously. And don't call me a guygirl :hungry:

Who said there was an issue? It probably was spot on, what was the point of not blowing up after the goal.

There certainly is that. He wasn't wonderful when he came on to be fair.
At least you are giving him a chance. 90th minute he came on. Not surprised he wasn’t wonderful.
Moura is just coming back fro injury. First 90 minutes played in a long time..
Seems to me like you want everyone to be fantastic 100% of the time.

You also love to pipe up in defence of Conte but don't seem to want to engage in any form of actual discussion about it. So instead of threatening to remove me, nut up and engage in the discussion!
Threatening to remove me

Don't come out with something like "the mods are free to remove me" and then fucking cry about it
