Welcome to the Marseille Vs Spurs Match Thread! COYS!

We want to bring the joy back into match days as these threads have just become full of over the top from at least a handful of posters. While we understand and have the same frustrations on the team and the performances the constant beating on the same players for just being picked is tiresome the same with going over how we didn't get more players in during the transfer window. We would rather not limit peoples access to this thread, so please before you hit post just read your post back...

STREAMING SITES

We cannot allow the posting of links to Streaming sites/apps and as a result of that do not allow posts asking for them as they invariably result in someone posting a link. Please do NOT hint at having, post or ask for links to streaming sites. The latest 'clever' way around this is to drop hints. That'll have to stop too I'm afraid as again, it results in people posting links.

Can't say I am particularly looking forward to this. When Spurs 'need' a result, it is so easy to remember the times we have made it incredibly difficult for ourselves. Marseille will be very motivated knowing a victory will guarantee them qualification to the knock-out stages, where as we simply need to 'avoid defeat'. That's often a recipe for disaster as far as we are concerned and I can see us conceding a very late goal to lose the game, probably from some completely unforced error. Hopefully I am completely wrong and we cruise to a nice 2 or 3 goal victory... but.. well you know... Spurs innit

Means we can sit back and do what we do best, counter attack! It's when we have to attack teams we tend to be rubbish!

Payet was amazing last year but struggling this season, we should win this although they were better than us until the red card.

Based on the 4 most recent games, and especially the last 2 we have been much better when we've had to attack. It's taken going behind to make us realise that we have to attack to drag us back into games.

Sitting back is what really gets us into trouble. We are really not very good at all at sitting back and absorbing pressure we fall back so far that we sit off attacking players and give them opportunities to take clear shots on goal and often we've conceded that way and we've done so in some of these last 4 games. When we sit back we often give the ball back in dangerous positions and concede, and when we're not doing that when we sit back, we try to play out deep and we look really nervous tapping the ball to each other in our own box or just outside it, and when we do tgat we misplace short passes to oppsition players in dangerous areas, or if we don't do that we pass it so far back near the corner that we invite teams onto us only to desperately ping it straight back to an oppsition player in an advanced attacking position.

So in a word, no I don't want us to sit back because that is easily the weakest part of our game, and it will be magnified 100 times if we try to do that in a cauldron hot stadium with the home fans baying for our blood.

We can pull off a win or get a draw, but no way do we do it sitting back simply hoping to counter. If that happens we will lose wilt and buckle for sure.

As President etc........Take a draw now
qualification guaranteed
without the agony
of actually having to watch us tomorrow.

You know it makes sense.

What's entertainment got to do with it.

When the fun stops... stop

We once went to Barcelona and got the result we needed. We went to Ajax, Dortmund and City and got the results we needed. We got the results we needed end of last season to get fourth. We have gotten results when we need them in the past, more so in recent history.

We can't afford another slow start, we have to get at them early on, if we can get 1 goal, it means they will be going all out to get back into it, then we could start to try and play on the counter.

Sounds like a nice place to visit :)

Supporters are advised not to visit the Old Port (Vieux Port) area of Marseille during their stay. When visiting other parts of the city, supporters are advised not to wear anything that will identify themselves as Tottenham Hotspur supporters or congregate in large groups.

Street crime, including pickpocketing can take place in Marseille. Supporters are advised to be vigilant, take sensible precautions and ensure they have valid travel insurance.
