I think what some are forgetting is actually how well we played at the back of end last season scoring goals for fun. So surely that proves that Conte is capable of getting this team playing that way, no? Nobody knows why we start slow or on the back foot. It could be preserving energy in a ridiculous schedule pre World Cup, fear, opposition imposing onto us (or likely a mixture of things). You may well be right and certainly you are entitled to your opinion. I won't insult you by insinuating that you are deluded.
I'm generally a glass half full person but I am very much progress focused. I've played several sports at a decent level and have always prioritised performance over result, particularly in tennis. I want to feel that I have played well, I honestly don't care if I win or not. I figure that if I continue to play well, winning will be a byproduct of my performance.
Yes, we have played well at times, but in general I would say that we have played poorly more often even if the results have been good.
I guess that my issue is that I don't see where we are going. What is conte trying to produce?
I also don't like or enjoy low-block football at all. I think it is outdated and has been superceded by the high press as the dominant philosophy in modern football.
Ultimately, I watch spurs because they are one of the passions of my life. When they aren't giving me that passion I will complain about it.
If I am ruining the forum with my constant negative focus, as you assert, the mods are free to remove me.
The fact we aren't playing so well first halves yet keep on winning or at the very least getting draws is a positive thing to think about. Each second half, especially the last three games, shows what this side is capable of. That in itself should give you and others signs of what we can do.
I also don't buy winning in the last minute lucky as some have suggested. We were better than them second half, much like Bournemouth and much like Sporting.
I see progress in this team personally. We just have to wait until after the World Cup break to really gauge things.
