Stupid defending aside, we should have won that. Frustrating.

Still think the Trent push and Thiago high boot would both be given as penalties on another day too.

22 of 28 touches in opposition box in 2nd half...

I am certain if you look at both first half and second half stats - we overtaken liverpool in that second half so not only did we catch up but exceed what they achieved. I like watching us when we play that front foot, in their half pressing type football... Its actually exciting

Hopefully Doherty and Kulu can stay fit and we don't have to be subjected to any more of Emerson's woeful attacking play.

Kulu looked like he'd never been away. Great to have him back.

if possible to look at this dispassionately that was an extremely good second half performance, and but for very fine margins and a refereeing performance that was disgusting we may have even won that game. And we did that with Deki for only 30 mins and without Sonny and Richarlison

Boy oh boy have we missed Deki,

We got robbed. Nothing more needs to be said. A push in the back = penalty. A kick in the head = penalty.
I don't know why Lucas didn't see that coming and dip his head down to ensure contact was made. Every other attacker in the league would have. I can name at least 4 Liverpool players who would have won a penalty there.

Like all matches this season we lose when up against a half decent team. One point from fifteen from Arsenal, City, Man U, Chelsea, Newcastle.

That shows you the reality of where we are.

We weren't actually that bad in the first half. Definitely a shift from defending from the edge of our own area. Conceded a soft goal and then an individual error.

Lost count on how many times we got into promising positions on the right and left flank only for royal and sessegnon to squander all of those opportunities.

Very good 2nd half. Seems to be the new spursy thing now. But let's not get ahead of ourselves - We were at home to a Liverpool team that's currently a million miles from its best. Work in progress
I think we were poor first half. I think we try and stay compact and look to counter too deep in the first half relying on a tight defence but we were second to everything.

2nd half we won more duels, we pressed and harassed for the ball and we took some more chances.

There is a fine balance between the 2 halves, but intensity and a desire to win was evident in the second.

The thing is, even if we played well in the 2nd half, Liverpool had a 2 goal lead. I’m not confident we would have been the better team if the game was in the balance. But even as poor as Liverpool have been, they were confident enough to see out a 2-0 lead.
I expected us to lose, as we were playing a good side. But this season continues to disappoint.

Perhaps we should play a system without (doesn’t rely on)wing backs if we are playing two from the start that can’t beat a man or cross a ball...

Haha, I missed that luckily. Only tuned in at ht. Apparently we had a stonewall penalty disallowed in the first half?

Subjective, but TAA makes no attempt for the ball and clearly pushes Sessegnon; can only assume the ref thinks he's gone over too easily but, to quote a classic: you see them given...

Can't we just get the scoreboard team to flash 0-2 up for the duration of the first half?

Seems an easy fix and we can blame it on technical issues - doubt the moronic 'referees' in this league would spot it either.

How is Conte still picking Royal over Doherty? Its genuinely mindblowing, everyone except Conte can see what a terrible wing back he is. Hate to say it but Sessengon on the other side isn't much better. We basically need a whole new backline and keeper over the next 2 windows. We've been moaning about Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Lloris etc for years, they are all capable of having good games but there's always some ridiculous mistake just around the corner.

I don’t understand the moaning about the lack of attackers — of the available options, who would you have selected instead? Bryan Gil given his full PL debut against Klopp’s Liverpool in place of the experienced Perisic?
Doesn’t matter if we had ten attackers. The pint is we have a coach who is scared and does nothing until we are in trouble … which happens in almost every match. He is defensively minded and has always been. He will never change so the grind goes on
