I realise it requires new signings but the two I've suggested seem likely enough, don't you think? And we desperately need an alternative to this turgid 5 at the back. I think Romero works in a back 4, but agree he needs to calm down a bit. Graham Roberts had similar issues but did v well in a...
Team could be
Lloris
Royal/ Spence Romero de Vrij Sess
Biss/Hojbjerg Bents
Deki New AM Son
Kane
De Vrij is obvs just an example.
God, we're shit at full back, aren't we.....?
I can't see any particular tactics thread at the moment. Shoot me down in flames if there is and I've missed it.
Our shape is all wrong it seems. We just can't get the balance right between defence and attack with 3/5 at the back. No matter if it's 343 or 352. We're doing an awful lot of...
The usual overreaction to a defeat. We played OK today. Probably better than we have in some of our wins this season. But we were up against a decent well drilled well motivated side.
Conte is not a disaster based on today, and the squad don't all need upgrading based on today. If we got in a...
I'd be delighted with Brozovic, De Vrij and Lamptey.
Throw in a back up striker (maybe on loan) and we've pretty much solved all our major deficiencies.
We don't know that though, do we? If Rodon played and assume Sanchez then marked Rudiger instead of Tanganga, maybe he doesn't lose him at the corner and we don't concede. If Sess played and got a couple of decent crosses in maybe we score too. Then we win the game.
It's not a given...
I'm a big fan of Conte so far, but there were some odd team selections last night. Why pick Gollini when Lloris is available? - he's already shown he can't be trusted. Why not play Rodon and keep Sanchez in his usual position? Strangest of all, what would make anyone pick Doherty on the left...
The most noticeable difference in our play under Conte is, every time a Spurs player has the ball there are nearly always two or three options in a good position to pass to. In the past they were either hiding or static.
How can people not vote for Lucas after that? Probably his best ever performance in a Spurs shirt (CL semi-final notwithstanding). This is what he always threatens to do but never quite manages. On top of everything, in the first half he had 100% pass completion.
(And yes Skipp was excellent...
I think the flaw in that argument has been well and truly demonstrated by our transfer business over the past few years. We've tended not to sign many big players (for whatever reason) when we were in the CL, and arguably our biggest signings (NDombele and Romero) both came when we didn't qualify.
