The contempt shown by Platini is amazing.
Forget the seven year ban, if he doesn't show up then they should go back to the original proposal which was the lifetime ban.

He didn't show up today judgements on both Blatter and Platini expected Monday

Although his lawyers had a good pay day. Did I hear they argued his case for 9 hours? I hope UEFA aren't paying that bill. Surely if he is found guilty he'll be ditched by UEFA as well won't he?

If its a ban from football they'll have ni choice.

Boo I wanted lifetime for both of them! They will obviously appeal but hopefully the bans will stand.
Well look at the state of Blatter, if he's alive in 8 years he won't be in any state to mastermind a comeback.

8 years ban is a start. HOpefully followed up by a similar lengthed prison sentence. In Guantanamo.

I know what you mean, but It's the same thing really though isn't it? Blatter obviously won't be fit to stand in eight years, and Platini is so tainted now that no-one will go near him again.

You are right but lifetime would have sent a much stronger message. Anyway it's the FBI and Swiss authorities that we are relying on to take down FIFA. Still hoping they can find enough evidence to arrest these 2 along with plenty of others.

Blatter isn't really fighting this, look at him! He's already preparing for life post FIFA as a Nelly tribute act

Hopefully CAS throws out their appeal - and doesn't reduce the 8 year ban (should have been a life time ban anyway)

Lets be charitable for a moment and assume that this entire verbal contract, payment for work done is right and proper and innocent like they say it is.
The fact that Blatter can just pay 2million euros with no explanation and no sense of obligation to run this past the ethics committee or even the financial officers to ensure transparency, highlights just how complete was his belief that FIFA's money was his money and shows the total lack of any governance in the organisation, that in itself condemns both the organisation and the Swiss authorities.
FIFA must be reconstituted as a new organisation and moved out of Switzerland before we can ever have any faith in it again.

The Swiss Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) today handed over an initial package of evidence to the US authorities. Consisting of bank documents, the evidence will be used in criminal proceedings against high-ranking FIFA officials. It relates to bank accounts allegedly used for bribes connected with the grant of marketing rights to soccer tournaments in Latin America and the USA.

These concern around 50 accounts with ten different banks, through which bribes to high-ranking FIFA officials are alleged to have been routed.

In addition, the FOJ responded to the US request for legal assistance by freezing some USD 80 million in assets in 13 bank accounts, the US authorities can apply to have these assets handed over if they have a legally valid and enforceable seizure ruling from a US court.

Think its a question of watching this space for new charges against FIFA officials, and no doubt extraditions to US. Seems the US can also apply to get US$80m extra funding for the processes too

I wonder if any would take up the offer for fear of being arrested as soon as they land.
Its kind of baffling that Salman especially hasnt been arrested yet on tougher charges then just fifa corruption, if im honest. Guy's scum of the earth. Give me a corrupt son of a bitch like Sepp any day of the week and twice on Sundays over that piece of human scum.

Platini has officially withdrawn from the election. No surprise.

The only surprise is the timing - it must have been obvious to him/his advisors that it was at best unlikely that he could stand and/or that in accordance with normal rules of corporate governance that he should stand. Can only assume that he's just been advised that he was banned and there was no way out for him,...........and finally he's had to accept it
