You want a new manager??? There is your new manager. I think he needs to get promoted to manage the senior squad so we can finally start to reap the rewards of having The Academy.

edit for a spelling mistake

Im pretty sure Inglethorpe has said before that he is not really interested in managment, and isn't Sherwood the one which seems like he might become a viable candidate to be a future manager?

well maybe he prefers to coach instead of talking to the media at any given opportunity. then they just need to hire someone else to do that and let Inglethorpe do what he is good at - teach the players proper football.

Yeah, you're going to struggle to convince me that - even with his accomplishments and obvious good knowledge of football and work with youngsters - that a man who has managed only Exeter City and a bunch of kids is the man to lead a side to the top places in the Premier League.

Shame we can't loan out coaches like we do the kids...

He knows the players and he has been with the club for several years, so he knows how the club works. It would make the transition much smoother.

Well, if you think of all the managers before Arry, they all had experience and had won trophies, but they all left or were sacked then add to that the fact that the man who just won The Champions league cup as a manager has not managed anything but Barcelona in his life, and your the argument that he has not managed a big team can't cut it with me. Obviously this works, might as well try it.

He plays for Leatherhead on a Sunday morning so I doubt he would be interested.

And attracting the very best players in the world much harder.

Although his experience in the Champions League, Cup Finals, and dealing with 24/7 press intrusion into his private life, plus press conferences where his every word and inflection is studied in intricate detail, that would be priceless... oh.

There's a reason that guys like Ancelotti, Hiddink and Van Gaal will be in high demand this summer. I agree Inglethorpe is someone to be excited by and he's shown every sign of being a great manager. But if this were the goal he would already be much more active with our first team. He needs much, much more bench experience in the Premier League to be anywhere near.

As I only half-jokingly suggested above, wouldn't it be nice if he were able to be sent to a side like Charlton for a season's loan as coach?

Maybe that's the future*?

*If that is the future, I hereby claim 1% of all loans fees and wages. Ta.

Pep Guardiola was already a Barca icon though. And a legendary player. People would be queuing up to play with him and work for him. With all the respect in the world to Alex I... well, you know.

You know that for sure, like you have talked to him at some point about it?

I think that was in jest.

Steve Perryman rates him very highly as a manager.

Now if you had said Jose Mourinho or Alex Ferguson I would have sat up and taken notice but with the greatest of respect to Stevie he has hardly had a distinguished career as a manager himself.

What does this have to do with Inglethorpe? Are you telling me that because Perryman couldn't cut it as a manager, he does not know jack about how good as a manager someone else could be? That does not make sense.

Because Steve Perryman appointed him to manage Exeter and his record of appointing good managers to Exeter City is highly thought of in the game, his management record has nothing to do with being able to recognise a good manager. To my knowledge no top manager has ever appointed Mourinho or Ferguson to a management job.

Yeah and as a player he worked under one or two decent ones. Or our two most successful ones actually n'est pas?
