But surely you have just proved my point. Getting tracked is one thing and having offers is another. United didnt turn Bale down, they just didnt feel that he represented value enough for them to match the bid that we made.

Lamela had bids on him from Barca and was tracked as you say, by other Euro elite teams. So as a collection of scouts he was rated. Rebic however has never had such a high profile of teams tracking him.

Some do get lost in the radar, but to currently compare Lamela with Rebic is a bit far fetched in my opinion, since their footballing history points in this direction also.

Nobody is saying he's Erik Lamela, Snarf was initmating that the situation is similar.

Why turn down a young talent? Especially on the basis of, "well no one else is trying to get him." Even though Fiorentina (amongst others) clearly are.

Is that really our goal? To try and compete with Barcelona for talent and disregard everyone else? I think we'd likely lose that battle.

Looks like it will be a good move for both Rebic and for Fiorentina (he's supposed to sign tonight). He's got a lot of potential, but with Gomez and Rossi there he won't start off with a lot of pressure, but still should get enough minutes to get his feet wet. I expect him to do well and believe we'll eventually see him in England. Think he'll (at least eventually) be a great fit there.

Rebic -> Fiorentina, Ljajic -> Roma, Lamela -> Tottenham.

Rebic to Fiorentina is official (he signed a 5-year deal). Announced by Fiorentina.

Conflicting reports on the fee. Croatian reports now saying it is 5m euros up front and 2m in future (after a future sale). Di Marzio saying it's 4.5m euros with a percentage of any future transfer.

Either way, this one's done (for now), but I don't think it'll be the last time you hear/read his name.
