I don't think we'll get this guy. He needs a year or two to keep developing, he wouldn't be ready to be our main backup so won't be an Adebayor replacement. And I don't think both Ade and Defoe will be off this window, that would just be too much of a shakeup in our strike force.

Number three behind defoe and infront of kane this year. Defoe goes next summer and everyone shifts up a spot. Ade to be sold. It's win, win, win.

We need a number two who could lead the line for 6 months if Soldado breaks his leg. I don't think that's Defoe, his all-around game just isn't good enough.

Rebic is probably currently better as an outside forward (that's primarily what he plays), but will eventually most likely lead the line (or partner someone). Versatile forward.

I know what your saying but all our strikers should be better due to the improved supply from midfield.

Spose it also depends on funds available. If you sold defoe, ade and sigi/lennon you could maybe get rodrigo and rebic and be set for the next 10 years.

Reports out of Italy saying Fiorentina have reached an agreement with RNK Split over Rebic.

Rebic: Split asks the 6 million, Napoli has offered 4.5. Rome at the window, Fiorentina absent. great competition

*****

I guess I'll update this one until it's official. His agent said the talk of a deal with Fiorentina being done isnt' accurate. He said they have stuck a deal with an Italian club, however. But perhaps other offers are still coming in.

I thought he was an out and out striker? I don't know much about him though. Will have to have a read through this thread properly.

From what I've seen I understood it as he operates as a wide forward but can play out and out

Edit: Looked at first page and Dinpomp backs this up

That video may be OK, but let's face it, he was up against some atrocious defending, so we can't really tell from that how well or poorly he'd be able to adapt to the much faster pace and far higher pressure of the EPL.

On balance, I'd say we probably have far better options to consider, although it's tough to make judgements from YouTube clips.

If we're looking for a young up and comer to mold, he fits the bill. You can't write off a guy because of the competition he faced. You look at his skillset at face value, not what he's up against. To me, he's got good movement, he looks like a solid athlete, appears to have a good idea of what he's doing before he does it and if he gets an opening he shows the ability to finish.

You don't say no to young talents because of their competition. He's 19 years old. It's similar to saying "I'm not interested in a 19 year old Erik Lamela. He's talented, but he's only playing for River Plate."

A little bit different if you dont mind me disagreeing. Lamela was tracked by most of the biggest clubs in Europe and in fact rejected two approaches from Barcelona as a child and then as a young teenager.

Getting tracked by anyone neither confirms nor denies your skill. United and Arsenal turned down picking up Bale from Southhampton, did it actually mean anything?

Plus Rebic is reportedly facing several offers from big clubs.

But surely you have just proved my point. Getting tracked is one thing and having offers is another. United didnt turn Bale down, they just didnt feel that he represented value enough for them to match the bid that we made.

Lamela had bids on him from Barca and was tracked as you say, by other Euro elite teams. So as a collection of scouts he was rated. Rebic however has never had such a high profile of teams tracking him.

Some do get lost in the radar, but to currently compare Lamela with Rebic is a bit far fetched in my opinion, since their footballing history points in this direction also.
