OK then; he missed the cross against a smaller bloke against Sunderland, so it fell to Chopra and then failed to block his shot quickly enough so they scored and we lost.

But he does his best when called upon, even if it's not Premiership quality. Wigan have got Bramble. The Goons have Eboue, who's not all that convincing. If Manure lose Ferdinand or Vidic, I wouldn't be thrilled to see O'Shea coming in. If Chelsea lose Terry and Carvalho, there's Boulharouz or they shove Essien at the back and lose their midfield drive. We had 7, yes 7, defenders injured before the season started and TG came in and gave of his best. However good that is, that's all you can ask a man to do. Leave our player alone and wish a good servant good luck if he leaves to further his career elsewhere.

That's right. A CB that tall and that poor at winning the ball in the air is not a premiership player. He missed it late yesterday and Spurs lost. He didn't win it late against chelsea last season, Spurs lost. Please feel free to add further disappointments to this list - these two just happen to be fresh in mind. It's nice to have a deep squad, but it's only useful if the players are premiership calibre.

To be entirely fair to Bambi he missed the ball against Everton, then went up the other end and scored.

He missed the ball against Chelsea, but finished the game despite having a broken leg.

I'm not saying he's class, he certainly gives me kittens when he plays, but as a fourth/fifth/six choice centre back I'd like to know who is better, more committed and who knows his place in the squad.

:sleepy: :sleepy: or  . What is the best response to this sublimely perceptive comment? Should we have a poll?

how about one of each?
:sleepy::rofl:

as for Tony G!

Hope he gets the chance for first team football, and will prove to people just how good he is when he gets a run in the first team.

As I've said many a time - if TG wants to leave - fine - but if he wants to stay I'm happy he does and once again he proved his worth yesterday

So many fans/media wished/predicted his exit this summer but I've been saying all summer I reckon he'd feature in at least one of the first 3 games - and lo and behold he's featured in all 3 -

Well done to TG for showing again he is a much needed part of the squad

Gardner should stay and we dont need Davies.

Rocha has now adapted as his performances have shown in the last two games, Derby and Man Utd. Kaboul looked good hopefully that will continue. Dawson has a lot of improvement still to make but believe he will learn and get better with age. King when fit is the best defender in the world.

besides he's better than that waste of space ferrero rocher

I think Rocha has been pretty decent in the last couple of games and with Gardner looked solid against Manchester United. With King, Dawson, Kaboul, Rocha and Gardner we have a lot of strength in depth at center back, we're just unlucky three of them are injured at the same time.

If Arsenal had Toure, Gallas and Senderos out injured they'd have to start putting midfielders there. United only have 3 cb's in Ferdinand, Vidic and Brown and Chelsea look far more porous without Terry at the back.

They've already had to draft Silva in, haven't they? And you do have to wonder at Wenger sending Djourou out on loan and hanging on to Senderos.

Big T has done a sterling job so far this season.
Okay a little dodgy in for evertons first goal, but other than that he has been pretty steady.
I'm impressed by him this year so far, and I reckon if he continues, Jol may find it difficult to drop him.

Either way, he is performing, his price will go up, and he will keep our other defenders on their toes.
Personally, if we are not getting Davies, then we keep big T - in my humble opinion.

People think Gardner is 4th choice but it seems he is more 5th coz Rocha seems a better player than him..But i think the main thing is that he probably holding the reserve team players up like dervitte etc
1 million will do nicely and thank you TG for your years of service and loyalty/professionalism.

Since Dervitte is still recovering from his cruciate injury (is he even back in training yet?), Gardner can hardly be accused of holding up his progress. It's just as well we do have him, otherwise we'd be back to last year's nonsense. Fortunately, we're about the only Premiership side that can cope with having our three first-choice CBs crocked without drafting in players who would be far better employed elsewhere—Silva and Essien, for example.

£1m? Are you kidding? Villa have just shelled out £3.5m for Zat Kight!
