well the thing that Redknapp will do is sign players FIRST and then sell players on. I'd expect us to have a squad of 30 or more AGAIN by the end of January!
Forget this shite LW argument/stuff that's been going on for years now!
Harry is 100% right, we're soft down the middle.
Expect big, strong, physical and hopefully very mobile/agile players to be signed to play at CB and CM. They probably won't have the grace and skill of a Modric!
I'd expect 1 or maybe even 2 forwards to sign as well.
Diarra could come from Portsmouth but I reckon Defoe won't come as he won't want to risk leaving an already good partnership with Crouch, plus leaving for the competition at places with us AGAIN.
I seriously fear for Modric, GDS and Pavlyuchenko now. Harry may think the first 2 are not strong enough for the PL whilst Pav is not good enough.... Who I would like to see him bring in is Diarra, Kranjcar, a top class striker and a CB to replace King. Surely HR wont let this King farce continue and pension him off/give coach role once and for all when he realises that he cannot play more than a game every 2/3 weks.
I doubt we'll see much change in Jan - a proven CB campaigner, a DM and another striker perhaps, all from the PL. Redknapp's great at building teams and getting the best out of what he's got. He might be just the man to get the best out of Lennon and deliver his potential. Same goes for O'Hara and Hudd. I suspect he may even get Benty scoring regularly again. I also expect him to bring through a few of the younger players - in particular Bostock.
Importantly, I think one of the first things he'll do is address is the King situation. 'Arry's no mug. If Ledders isn't up to playing a full part then it could be curtains for him under Redknapp. (SD beat me to it, but I agree 100%).
I can see Defoe coming back in January. IMO Pompey will sell for the right price.
Whoever comes or goes, with 50m to spend in January, hopefully BAR won't be able to churn out the 'down to the bare bones' excuses he has for the past couple of decades.
I can see him handing Woody the armband today. As noted before, I think he'll address the King situation as an urgent priority. Unfortunately, that might not be good news for King and will also give a lot of fans something to hold against him already. But no player is bigger than the club.
Surely we'll soon know the exact names of the personnel that 'Arry wants to bring in during the January window: for as long as I can remember, Redknapp has regularly appeared in the media saying, "Well, it's not my place to be talking about other clubs' players, but I do like Player X as a player and think he would do a fantastic job for us." Won't be long before we know who we'll be going for in January!
'Arry to bring in Ronaldo on a free? He's always out for a bargain...but reckon he'll stick with what we've got mostly. I'd say a few fringe players might leave (e.g. Ekotto). Also think he'll give a few younger players more chance to shine, e.g. Bostock and Taarabt. Maybe bring back Ghaly...?!
One of the many questions now that Harry is here, will be whether the forgotten stars will be brought back into the side. One of the players who Ramos sold in the Summer for example, was signed by Harry, in Younes Kaboul. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Rocha, Stalteri, Taarabt, Ghaly and Boeteng are given a chance now.
I'd like Rocha to return to the squad above all else. With Woodgate injured today, its another reminder of how light we are at Centre Back. But i think all of them are players who i could actually see Harry working well with. Its just a shame that neither of them are good goalscorers.
I always thought Rocha was harshly treated. He isn't a bad player. I think Harry will take a look at all these players. Then get the best out of the ones he picked.
Maybe Harry can get the likes of Dawson playing well again!?
He did a great job for us 2/3 season ago. If he had his confidence restored and perhaps worked hard with woodgate and ledley in training i think he could be at least an effective backup!?
We do need another experienced professional though...
Diarra and bring defoe back- and can i just say, i don't believe we will are in or ever will be in a relegation battle this season. i'm the happiest person in the world today. no matter what you think of the man- he'll get the best out of the squad he has and its full off quality. think back to the last day of pre-season, most off us thought that this was the year and i personal think nothing has changed. now we have pl experience a proven track record and now after 8 games a win- some thing we wouldn't have for at least another month with jande. arry is going to become a spurs legend mark my words
I would like to see Krancjar come in as he could balance up the left side pretty well. The good thing about Arry as already mentioned is he can put a good, well balanced side together.
