So we are winning in spite of AVB and any tactics he employs? Perhaps we should sack him and bring in Pullis to prove your theory.

You dont think any other manager could, given the squad at his disposal, be winning and around the top 4?

How about Martinez and Pochetinno who are, and havent got half the squad?

And you think he excelled in getting to 5th above Everton last year with a better squad.

Not saying in spite of him but lets not make out like he is ripping up trees here, he is doing as well as you would expect wth the squad he has. Yes, im saying we could, heaven forbid, play some 'football' with the players we have and still win games, why are we assuming the negativity is important to our success.

Seen the full interview with AVB, really damning words, saying the players were talikng about the crowd at half-tine and how difficult it is to play at theLane these days. I agree with them 100%, I said on here 2 weeks ago that IMHO we now have the worst home support in the league, and now we clearly know that the players don't even enjoy playing at home anymore.

Have you got a link? I can't see the half time comments anywhere, only the negative atmosphere stuff.

Couldn't disagree more, supporting Spurs is supposed to be about glorious football not turgid 1-0 wins, that is the ethos of that horrible mob down the road.

Surely supporting spurs is about simply supporting spurs, no matter how they are currently playing.

I don't support the club more when they are deemed to be playing better football! I support Tottenham because I love the club, always have, always will.

Eff all to do with glorious or turgid football.

Fair play to AVB, he's spot on.

I promised myself earlier in the season that i wasn't going to anymore home games for exactly this reason.

The amount of idiots that 'support' our club is staggering.

SO if he has a top 4 squad and we are around the top 4 what is he doing thats so amazing.

6 to 7 teams are capable of finishing in the top 4 this season. Some of our new guys are clearly settling and we're adapting as a team, I would say he's doing well enough all things considered.

If there is no discernible improvement in our attacking play over the coming weeks and results become more of a problem - fine, its time to worry.

Conversely, if we keep grinding out results that keep us in touch and we gradually start to see some improvement as an attacking collective force, which I think is reasonable and logical, then surely we're in great shape and can only get stronger as the season rumbles on with plenty of points already in the bank.

I'm not saying here that I don't think the negativity from the crowd is poor because i do, however I have to say it's not particularly impressive either that the players are commenting on the fans at half time when they should be looking at their own (poor at that point) performances.
It also doesn't bode well for the likelihood of avb staying long term at the club that he is disappointed with our crowd. If you look at his love of the Europa & other character traits I think he is more suited to a European club, perhaps a german club where they have cheaper ticket prices & just get drunk & jump around. The culture in England in recent years is very different to that at all clubs. I think he'll be here for this season & next but I would be very surprised if he's here for the long hall. I would also expect him to back down a little over his comments over the next few days as they were worded a little bluntly. I'm not sure how well received they will be by mr levy.

Hang on...so you complain about "glory hunting wankers", but then make a post implying that you are only concerned about seeing us win, whereas the complaints are from people talking about wanting more than just scrappy wins?

Ok then.

The best analogy I can think of is that it's like dating someone. After a while it seems as if the romance is going out of the relationship. Instead of being excited to see each other, things seem a bit off, and feels more like going through the motions. The sex becomes lifeless, and awkward, instead of being natural and enjoyable.

You wouldn't wake up thinking "yeah, I got laid last night...that's all that matters." You'd be concerned that if things carry on the way they are, the relationship is going to come to an end, and all you'll be left with is some memories of some not particularly enjoyable shags.

I think the honeymoon period came to a brutal end against West Ham, and many of us were hoping for/expecting a reaction to that. On the surface it looks good - two 2-0 away wins, and one 1-0 home win - but looking a little deeper we've only actually played well for about 20 minutes out of those three games, and for me that's more than enough of a reason to be a little concerned.

It's easy for you to sit there without any evidence to support your argument and say others could achieve the same, as you know there is no way of telling. I only deal in whats real and AVB is currently out performing most of our previous managers.

Well funny you should say that but I'm actually into clarevoyance in a big way and confirm you're wrong. Pocahonas unfortunately couldn't replicate his early Southampton form and we suddenly became easy to beat and were on a four match losing streak, including a lose to Southampton and Sunderland. Whilst after big win against Arsenal, Martinez suddenly lost three on the bounce and we're were in the bottom half of the league...plus a lose to Barnet in the Carling cup. In fact it got so bad that a fan ran onto the pitch and tried to punch him square on the nose.

Is that what you want? What you really really want?

That's the shit thing about it.

How many good fans that sing their heart out every game that stopped going due to the negativity?

Basically we're letting the numpty's win. With that mentality all the decent fans will piss off leaving only booing morons wondering why the bloke that was great last year is now shit (despite booing his every touch) and blames the manager.

It's a vicious cycle.

So the question is who can come up with a plan to get rid of all the numpties from home games. I'm thinking Ricin in their stevia... ;)

We've all been talking about this for ages. What he's said is only surprising in that he's said it

Agreed but hopefully there'll be a positive reaction from AVB's comments and the atmosphere will improve going forward. I'm not going to get my hopes up though with some of the knuckle dragging idiots out there.

Wonder how many of those agree with AVB actually venture to WHL on a regular occasion ?

We'll never know.

I can't speak for others but I can speak for myself. I'm a season ticket holder. Have been for 20 years or so. Member for years before that and first attended a game at WHL in 1979.

And I agree fully with AVB.

Without a shadow of doubt, the atmosphere at the Lane is the worst that it has been in the nigh on 35 years since I first started going to games. This is the best team that we have had in 25 years. Maybe more. Yet going to games at the Lane has never been less fun. Seriously.

I'm not talking about a lack of entertainment on the pitch. I'm talking about the embarrassment in the stands. Yes, embarrassment.

I want to be proud of everything about Tottenham. Our players; our manager; our style of play; our stadium; our training centre; our success.......and, yes, our fans. But game after game these days, I find myself ashamed by the dreadful atmosphere at the Lane. The silence; the negativity; the pathetic absence of even anything remotely resembling a decent and original song.

We have to do something drastic. Soon. So I'm thrilled that AVB has had the balls to point out what everyone already knew - even if they didn't want to admit it. Maybe this will act as the catalyst to arrest the decline? I hope so. Because if I was a player, I wouldn't enjoy playing in front of this crowd.

We're so close to doing something special. We could genuinely challenge for major trophies. We could genuinely establish ourselves as proper contenders for the first time in a generation or two. Is it really asking too much of the fans to expect them to do their bit?

This exactly.

Jambreck, you really are one of the few on here that revive my faith in Spurs fans!

I certainly don't enjoy going to the lane as much any more, really think this will be my last season ticket season. The fan has turned into a consumer, and I really don't fucking like it.

Since when was dressing a bird up as a meerkat, ruining her with an industrial sized buttplug and writing jizz here in lipstick across her bum natural? Not that I take issue with it being enjoyable mind........
