Avb has a point (although I didn't think it was that bad today - far worse and negative during the early part of last season) but this is not just a Spurs problem. Football in the PL is far less exciting than it used to be and the fans generally are less tolerant and have a greater sense of entitlement.

The thing is, it's not the fans fault we have created so little this season, or we play such uninspiring and risk free football, or that despite most teams parking the bus the manager insists on still playing one upfront, or that our off the ball movement is poor or that we spend £26 on a striker and don't play to their strengths.

Sounds to me that maybe AVB is just trying to deflect from a home performance which is becoming something of the norm in the last year or so, for which he as the manager seems to have no answer to.

The irony is that the club have driven out most of our good fans with the insanely high ticket prices. I sit in what is the cheapest area of the ground season ticket wise and over the past few years familiar faces have disappeared and have been replaced by people that hardly say a word.

I'm not saying that's the case absolutely everywhere in the stadium, but it's certainly a factor. It's sad that its got to the point where something like the 1882 THFC has to exist because our fans suck so much.

serves him right for putting together such a top squad and getting us chasing the title, he should have left us to wither on the vine then we'd have no expectations!!!
But seriously AVB has not done this off his own back it seems clear to me that the players are feeling it and have fed it back to him in which case shame on the fans. If we can't man up and do our bit for them they won't be enjoying their football and won't be able row give their best.
I always applaud when a player tries a pass that doesn't come off at least they tried and eventually it will come off too many fans just slag them off.

I think that the captain (Dawson) should make a move on the situation. He should say in public something like that

"I'm apologizing to all the fans, we're struggling becouse we're still gelling. The progress takes longer than we all expected but you need to know that we are giving 100% and I'm asking you for some patience and support".

Seen the full interview with AVB, really damning words, saying the players were talikng about the crowd at half-tine and how difficult it is to play at theLane these days. I agree with them 100%, I said on here 2 weeks ago that IMHO we now have the worst home support in the league, and now we clearly know that the players don't even enjoy playing at home anymore.

If it is the fault exclusively of season ticket holders, as some would suggest on here, why don't the 8,000 non season ticket holders who go do something about it and try and show us spoilt brats how it is done by making some noise.

Or perhaps it is not all the fault of season ticket holders, perhaps 1882 aren't the saviours and perhaps all fans, irrespective of whether they are season ticket holders, members, 1882ers have a responsibility to generate a better atmosphere.

That'll never happen whilst we're sitting pretty in the top 4 and undergoing our best ever start to a PL season.

It actually makes me a bit ashamed. But it's been noticeable and coming for ages.

No way, gives the players an excuse and shows weakness to the enemy. Fans need to man up and do their job as well as players

While I partially agree with what AVB says, I do think he could have said it a lot better.

The atmosphere at the Lane hasn't been good for a couple of seasons now, a lot of this, in my opinion is down to the negative tactics employed by visiting teams, who are increasingly coming to the Lane looking to defend for 90 minutes.

We, as fans, need to accept this and get used to it. For most teams, getting a point at the Lane is now almost as good as a win. It really is a measure of just how far we have risen over the last few years.

Spurs fans have been spoilt over the years, with both teams, more often than not, going for the win which resulted in fast paced, open games.

I've been to Palace - Fulham and Palace - Arsenal this last week. In both games they kept singing to the final whistle.. Not that they are better fans, but we shouldn't need or expect a reason to rock the place.

Well I was there today and it wasn't bad. Certainly not enought to merit criticism from AVB, unless he's talking about the atmosphere at the Lane in general, in which case yes he's right.

One thing's for sure the atmosphere against Hull in midweek will be better now and then against Newcastle, so if he's the bad guy to get the atmosphere up, thus helping the team, then its brave of him.

Generally today, we were quite poor, especially in the first half. The fans stayed with the team. There was anxiety, but maybe that was down to the fact that we created nothing in the game. There certainly wasn't any booing. Dawson got a bit of flack when he failed to clear once or twice towards the end, but that was because he fucked up and was being careless in possession, so hardly unmerited in the heat of the moment.

I was at the game as well, and in west lower all I could hear was moaning and booing. The only moment in the match, apart from the penalty appeal and subsequent goal, where people around me started singing and cheering was when Defoe came on....

Good on AVB for speaking up, I hope it serves as a wake up call to some.
