Its time Mr Levy had the old fashion “Either your signature or your brains are going to be on the contract.” talk with Mr Berbatov and his agent

Why are you so desperate to keep a player who seems desperate to leave the club? Could you expect from such a footballer to play to his full potential in every game? Get some perspective and show some pride. An unhappy player, especially if he is a big star, can exert a negative influence on the team.
Ha ha! Who do you think would win?
Mr Cool
vs.
Mr Bald
Maybe A&C should open a book?
Levy is clearly one of those silent but deadly types.
He'd have berba shot before breakfast.
Very interesting reading! But his decision to not buy out the contract may be due to a completely different reason that has nothing to do with the "cartel". Arsenal just promised him to sell him abroad (Inter/Barca) and there is no need for him to buy out the contract. Thus Arsenal will get more money and the player won't have any problems. The whole talk about buying out the contract just forces the club to ask for the real price that other clubs are ready to meet and not for a price that forces the player to stay against his will.
You're telling everyone heree that their logic is flawed because Berbatov wants to leave, but it's actually you, who has a flawed logic. It has never been said by Berbatov that he wants to leave. Not once has he said he doesn't like it at Spurs and wants a move somewhere else, so why do you believe this? Is it because of the agent? Because he is repeatedly angling for a move to get a big payday?
Berbatov will not buy out his contract.
Didn't he get a pay rise after last season, if the terms were changed does that count as a new contract then?
Why did they feel the need to introduce a stupid rule that essentially nullifies any contracts over three years, so the players on the gravy train can get a pay rise every year now?

wait wait wait, I said that my logic might be flawed. Also I said that Berbatov can buy out his contract after next season and not that he will buy out his contract. On the contrary, I wrote in the other thread that he won't buy out the contract. You can read my reasons to think so. He may sign a new contract, he may be sold, he may fail to impress the big clubs etc etc. But purely formally seen he can buy out his contract as he will have completed 3 years at the club and no rule can stop him to do it. This is for me beyound any doubt, I hate to delude myself. The contract cannot contain a clause that invalidates the Webster rule for the simple reason that it was made and signed when this rule didn't exist.
Ive just got off phone to my girlfriend who works at gatwick & she's just told me she saw berba there today catching plane to Barcelona! Could be completly inocent like he is going on holiday! But after what etoo said today about playing in premiership might have something in it!

He's played in the Champions League final, and if he wanted Champions League football so much, why turn down United to join us two seasons ago?
