The smart money is on Ramos relinquishing the captaincy from Ledley King in order for him to concentrate on getting himself fit and contributing to the team on the pitch with Robbie Keane getting promoted to the top job.

I'm also willing to bet given that Jenas and Woodgate was standing next to Keane during the kit launch that those two will be the teams new vice captains.

What's everyones thoughts on this trio potentially leading spurs next season.

I'm not ITK but i've heard that we're re-signing Kevin Scott and making him captain.

I dont like a striker being captain. I would actually agree with Woodgate being captain (only problem being he has just signed) Im sure he would do the best job.

I'm happy as it is. Being skipper isn't slowing Ledley's recovery, it's more likely to inspire him to return sooner.

On a serious note, Captain Keano would've been a hundred times better than Captain Caveman. As good as 'Cavey' was, I would've preferred watching Keano run around like a savaged nutter solving mysteries in episodes entitled 'The unfinished crazy paving'.

Captain, KEEEAAAAAANNNNNNNNNOOOOOOO.

Should not be made captain in my book. By the way I am not questioning his passion and love for the club and its supporters.

The main reason for me ( and its not his fault) is the position he plays - striker. I just believe that a captain should be someone playing in a position where they are able to observe and dictate play while cummunicating etc. A mid fielder is the best position but I would certainly prefer a defender in absence of a midfield "leader". Therefore I would stick with Ledders but if it was to be taken from him I would give it Woodgate.

Keane is more likely to get substituted because of the position that he plays, which happened quite alot in this past season, times when we needed our "captain" on the field.

Why would we appoint a new Captain now? If the heart / leader comes in won't he want to lead? As well as all that Keane is very ordinary as a captain especially when he impersonates a helicopter.

In my view, Keane should not be captain, simply because Ramos, while he appears to rate him very highly, rarely keeps him on the pitch for the whole game.
I think we have a problem with the captaincy, because if King loses the role because we can't rely on him being available most of the time, it has to be said that Woodgate's overall record with injury absences is far from good either. I personally don't see Jenas as captaincy material; he is not that vocal and often flits in and out of games, so hardly leads by example. Robinson is likely to be on his way, and in any event it was difficult for him to be a good captain from goalkeeper.

If we don't get a "Davids" type character in over the summer, then I think I'd plump for Alan Hutton. He is a shoo-in for selection, seems to recover from knocks quickly, plays intelligently, has settled into the club easily, and I suspect could grow into the role very well.

I dont expect a decision to be made on this before pre-season is well under way and Ramos has had a decent chance to assess Ledley's chances of playing 30+ games next season.

But my choice if he cant play that many games is Woodgate. These days you need as much freedom as possible when selecting your front 2 so you can rotate and rest players and keep everyone sharp, while its still important for your skipper to play almost every game. So it makes more sense to have a CB as skipper rather than a striker.
