Chelsea are a footballing giant in World football, they have World class players all over the pitch and are looking at spending near another 1/2 billion pound further in this window.

Yet some seem surprised we couldn't roll up to their house dominate them and come back with 3 points.
I wonder what planet some of us reside on sometimes.
Exactly. Some people forgot that other teams had improved as well. We’re not on their level yet.

It didn't matter in the end, but how was there only 6 minutes added on?

2nd Half
3 goals
2 player yellows
8 subs
and a lengthy drinks break/fight on the touchline

Conte got it badly wrong today IMO. He should have hooked Kulu for Bissouma and gone to 3-5-2 when it was obvious we were getting overrun in midfield. Also, going to 4 at the back was a major factor in conceding their 2nd goal. With Romero and Dier getting dragged across, Davies had way too much space to cover without a wing back helping him out.
352 will only work if we had a creative midfielder. Plying 352 with those 3 would have just stifled the game and made us more predictable

Strong username to bizarre tone policing energy going on here...

It was context joke, right? Somebody posted how it was okay for Tuchel to act like a complete twat because of his "german cultural norms". I turned that thinking on itself with a pretty lame and obvious joke.

and now someone calling themselves "yakflange" is telling me to update from the 1970's.

Christ I love the internet :D
Please don't misquote me.

I didn't say:

it was okay for Tuchel to act like a complete twat because of his "german cultural norms".

Caught highlights... Chelsea always raise their game against us, but I love that we completely rattled them. It seems to be the effect we're having on these clubs right now... From the Arsenal game last season to today. Mentally they just can't cope with us.

mate they did raise their game but they battered us - apart from the incident on the side we never really got close to them football wise - we had a few decent chances but we had no control in the game for the most part and all the best performers wore blue shirts - I don't think we rattled them they would have been frustrated by the result and the ref understandably I think

I think Reece James highlighted what we could have done with at right wing back yesterday.

Strong, dynamic and excellent delivery.
yet Royal was one of our few successes yesterday and the cross he put over in the second half really deserved someone being on the end of it - but James is a very good player and its something we lack

I wonder what planet some of us reside on sometimes.
I can help you with that one

The Clangers were SC match thread regulars living in peace and harmony on – and inside – a small, hollow planet, far, far away: nourished by Blue String Pudding, and by Green Soup harvested from the planet's volcanic soup wells by the Soup Dragon.

That's the point, that was peak Chelsea, they won't play better this season they will of course play this well and have some good wins when everyone will say they were unplayable but they won't play better than that and they still couldn't beat us.

Absolutely. He has to get with the programme, Conte has to work on him.
Above was in reference to Kane's lack of pressing. Our press falls down because Son can't be relied on to do it effectively, which often gives the opposition an out ball. Just watch the game and see Kane chase every long ball played back to their keeper or a CB. He covered a lot of yards chasing lost causes. He was surrounded by opponents every time he got the ball. Kulu on the other hand gets stuck in. If anyone is going to be dragged or replaced to give Richarlison time it will probably be Sonny. Our interest in Zaniolo is based on his power and drive, and his skill base. Zan, Richie and Kulu share similar skill sets and size.

Look around the league and see all the big units being added to forward lines. the big man is back.

normally yes but stifling the game is exactly what we needed to do yesterday the midfield was overrun we had no outlets out wide we had to stop them from playing and create a foothold

I was probably over optimistic and thought we’d win this handily. Actually we learned a lot from this game about how Conte is drawing all the pieces together to create a great team. We were going until the final minute and Harry, who’d been marshalled by them pretty well the whole game, rose free to head that home. Similar to the winner against Man City.

Someone on here earlier made a great point about the positioning of Richarlison and Moura around him. Definitely something I’ll watch out for in the future.

I'd agree if they were carving out chances but they basically just dominated the pitch and didn't create much. No point stifling a non attacking threat surely?

Antonio’s passion on the sideline makes me want to run for him. Even though I’ll die after 200 metres, but this sort of passion radiates through the club and you can see the players all want to play for him. This is the type of passion and mentality that wins trophies. I can’t wait to see what this team can do this season under him.

I would prefer to look at the performance as a barometer rather than the result. On average our performance over the season will tally up to results unlike today.
We aren’t going to be playing peak Chelsea every week? We done well getting a point when we never played great. That point could be the difference come the end of the season.

Our performance won't be like that over the course of a season cos we don't play our hardest fixture of the season every week
