Losing dempsey will be a mistake. With Ade and Defoe not firing on any cylinders last season it was easy to man mark Clint out of a game. With solado coming in and ( hopefully ) playing to his value , defenses will focus on him more and allow Clint to wander and play more link up, his strengths.

Btw I'm not American, but live in ny and you have no idea how much the yanks love him. He is the face of the premiership here ( with Bale ) and will definitely add to our bottom line big time...
He just doesn't fit into the way AVB wants to play though. It was a always strange signing. If he's got the right players around him, and the right system, he's an effective player, but not for us.

Rumors flying that he was catching a plane to Seattle. Seattle hosts Dallas Saturday. He's from Texas. Could it be Dallas FC?

Actually word now is that he is meeting up with Everton in the US on their tour. That would certainly make a lot more sense.

Apparently was not going to Seattle. The fact that he is in the western US seems like it should say a lot.

Of course I hate losing Clint, but I also get it. Just curious how much of a fee we could get for him?

if it's to a MLS club, not much. LA galaxy, the club with the most support and money in MLS, nickle and dimed us over Robbie Keane's transfer fee iirc

Im from seattle, and I can tell you right now, that the Sounders can easily afford him. They are by far and way the best supported team in the US, with an avg attendance of 34,000 per game. They are also owned by Paul Allen. As in, one of the dudes that founded Microsoft. They have plenty of money to spend on 'designated' players.

That said -- something tells me he won't be making his bones in the pacific northwest. Though, I'd love it.

Seattle eh? I'm over in Spokane, myself. Are you a part of the Seattle Spurs supporters club?

Wonder how much we're getting for Clint, that came out of the blue a bit like Caulkers move. I reckon we've got around the same amount, probably made around 18-20mil from those 2 deals.

Yeah, Seattle must be throwing a lot of money at him and us. Crazy, I thought he would be determined to stay in the PL.

Gosh why would he go to the MLS, surely he's got another couple of years in the PL in him? (no offence to the MLS)

I think he's a good reliable goal scorer to keep in the squad, but hey ho - dems da breaks

Apparently that photo is a fake. I posted it too, but took it down.
