If we bring in Chadli for Dempsey I would be pretty happy but I would feel sad for Clint.

He is always fighting and I think he is desperate to reach sth. . But I already mentioned: If there is someone like Chadli to replace him I am happy.

Not being harsh, he scored some key goals but I could not give a fuck if we sold him.
Too much ambling around drawing fouls for my liking
Sorry Clint...

If he goes I'd love to see him at Sunderland, Americans styling on the Prem, damn son.

Do have fun when you need someone like him as soon as Bale isn't playing in God mode though.

Although I've been frustrated by Dempsey in the past season, I don't think he is an mediocre player, I think he is a very good player.

He just needs to figure out how to make it work when he is not the star of the team. Teams like Fulham and the US allow him to be the central catalyst, and he excels at that role, just look at some of his highlight videos. With a team like ours, however, he is just one of many, and I think he just hasn't figured out completely how to adapt to that. Another problem was that he was brought in on the last day of the window as a square peg trying to fill a round hole. He showed flashes of brilliance last season. I personally hope we keep him, he's a good squad player who can cover several positions, works hard, seems to get along well with everyone, is VERY good for expanding our market to the US as he's now probably the star player and captain there. To be honest I could see Levy keeping him just for that reason, especially with the WC next year. Dempsey's a better than average player, just needs to figure out how to play in a team with other better than average players. He scored some crucial goals last season, regardless of how he got them. Let's not forget this is the same guy who scored 21 (15 EPL) goals in one season for Fulham as an attacking midfielder.

I think he is worth keeping, I trust him to figure it out and once he does I think he can challenge for a starting spot. Now, that being said, if we get an offer of something like 10M+, we have to take it.

That stuff about keeping him for marketing is nothing but an uninformed dream, if anything the fans shabby treatment of Dempsey have turned American soccer fans off Spurs.

When Bale is not at his earth revolution stopping best, I seldom think "it's alright, Dempsey is going to do something so good that a man in Cuba will spontaneously turd himself the second the ball thumps into the roof of the net".

I think the main reason why I do not think it is because it has not really happened.

I won't lie, I am not his biggest fan and I cannot deny that he scored at crucial times but he is not a wide midfielder, certainly not a winger, he is not a striker and he lacks the guile, skill and vision to be a number 10. So I am not sure what he is.

If it was cricket, I guess he'd be a fielder (disclaimer- I know sweet F.A about cricket)

I think Dempsey probably brought them to Tottenham and Bale will keep them around.

Bale is the ultimate sports star for Americans. We all love the clutch performer, the star player, the guy who is not only awesome but he's an awesome person. I can guarantee you that Dempsey did bring a bunch of fans to notice Tottenham from America, but Bale is the reason many of them will also be sticking around long after Dempsey's departure.

I do appreciate Dempsey as a footballer and I won't forget the two goals against United this year. He at times was a valuable member for the club and other times was just a whole bunch of 'meh.'

I'd personally love to see him at Everton. I think it's the perfect level for him and with Everton's past/current success with Americans, I can easily see the fit.

So because most Spurs fans don't really rate Dempsey, informed Americans like yourself won't support Spurs?

nah mate, rating is different from slandering him every single match on message boards and whatnot. it's just turned most people who've done a little digging completely off.

don't like it myself but its your right to speak however you want, no complaints here, will point things out sometimes however.

not our fault english fans are into self-loathing like that :D
