Interested to know who everyone would choose from the following two positions, to complete our summer transfers :

Defensive Midfielder
Wide Forward/Forward

Those are the two positions it is widely touted that we are still shooting for, so who would you buy?

You also get to choose a wildcard, in case Levy finds a few million down the back of the sofa! :)

My choices would be:

DM: James McCarthy
FW: Timo Werner
Wildcard: Jefferson Montero

Interested to see what the consensus is.

A number of players I wanted have unfortunately moved on to other teams. Payet, Cabaye, Suarez, Clasie, Ayew, Wijnaldum and Konoplyanka are all players that I believe would have improved us.

With that said, if I had to give three names that we should target to round out the squad, they'd be the following:

Grzegorz Krychowiak: If you want a defensive central midfielder, then he is the best player out there. An excellent tackler and reader of the game and was a huge reason why Sevilla won the Europa League last season. Unlike McCarthy, who I think will be very difficult to attain given that Everton see us as rivals, Krychowiak has a release clause of 20.8 million pounds (30 million Euros). We can increase his wages, so if we're willing to pay the transfer fee, we'd have a real chance to sign him. Of course, I'm skeptical about our desire to spend over 15 million pounds on a single player given everything that's happened in recent years. This guy would be worth it, though.

Andriy Yarmolenko: An ultra versatile attacker who can play multiple positions and is incredibly creative. Scores goals and creates clear cut chances (was leading assist man in all of the Europa League last season) with outrageous dribbling ability. Stoke are seemingly desperate to sign him for 13 million pounds, but there's a question of whether they're too low on the totem pole for him. We should be in there tempting him, as he has both Chadli's physical strength and Eriksen/Lamela's technical ability, but he arguably has more pace than all of them.

Fernando Llorente: A lot of people haven't followed him in years, it seems, but he still is a very capable striker. Still dominant in the air, very good at holding the ball up, and can strike the ball well with both feet. Thrived in Bielsa's system earlier in his career, and actually did quite well in his first season at Juve before being relegated to spot duty this past year. He's older and his wages will be high, and it seems Real Madrid wants him as back-up, which should tell you he still has something left in the tank. Maybe he'd be up for a different challenge at this stage of his career.

Michael Carrick - still has a very good season in him, could rotate due to age, great passer and would teach so much to Alli, Mason, Bentaleb, Carroll

Saido Berahino - Young, proven in this league, different skill set to Harry Kane, can lead the line solo, can play on the flanks, bags of pace

Talisca - Exciting young talent, number 10, has everything both technically and physically, gets goals too.

Really think we need to spend the money big once this summer,
and it's the holding midfield position. We need a pure quality player there.
Christoph Kramer would be my first choice (well ... Luka Modric is my first choice, but you know ... ), though William Carvalho has also convinced me of his quality this summer. If we can't land one of them then I think we should look for experience to help our younger options grow their game. Esteban Cambiasso who is free agent still, or Michael Carrick who could be available after United's spending spree.

The other position to go for is indeed up front, think it depends a bit on who goes of Adebayor and/or Soldado.
In many ways I'm willing to try Shaq Coulthirst and Nathan Oduwa as depth players behind Kane and a back up option. Must admit, I'm feeling the Saido Berahino link at the moment, think it's a safe bet for us, more so than trying to get the next big think from abroad, who we don't know if could handle the Premier League or not.
We know Berahino will deliver. At what price though ...

Wild Card? Would have said Patrick Roberts few days ago ....
Maybe follow up our interest in Kristoffer Ajer?
Or if we want to go big, Timo Werner.

My picks ;)

DM: Maxime Gonalons and Cambiasso on a free (considering Bentaleb and Alli are free picks. Also Cambiasso will not impede developments of out youth products as he will most likely retire in the near future)
FW: Berahino
Dream Acquisition / Stellar Signing : Kevin de Bruyne

One from left field from for me be jedinak. A proper leader which we lack, fantastic reader of the game and decent on the ball.

Striker i would go for Berahino, will score goals and offers us flexibility upfront as he can play across all three forward positions positions.

I would also like another wide player with pace but don't know who.

Carrick for a cheap fee would be a solid purchase but I don't think United would want to get rid of him, he has been the only consistent player for them during the past few seasons where they have been patchy.

Winger wise I'd go for Piatti (I signed him on FM for £1.7m and he is now worth £11m after scoring 13 in 19, so yeah he will clearly replicate that in real life if we buy him...) or Mirallas (then he can't score against us at least)

But sod it, I'll go Carrick, Werner and Piatti/Mirallas.

Carrick's actually not a bad shout at all. He could teach Bentaleb a lot.

CM - Rabiot
Rumour that won't go away, can see us really pushing for this.

CF - Berahino
Very much a Levy signing, concerns over his attitude.

CF - Ricky Lambert
Surprised there hasn't been more talk of him as Kane's backup - knows Poch and the system and cheap.

*Agree that Carrick isn't a bad shout either, especially at the right price.

COMPLETELY agree about Carrick BBLG......think he might be the missing link and i wonder how much playing time he will get at ManU this year.
