Am I blind? Or is there no other thread on this chap?

I'll be gutted if he signs for Sunderland, he is utterly worth 13mil.. we should get involved.

I'm gonna put this out there, if you like it, good, if you don't, then just send it right back..

..I think this player is the most excitingenglish talent since Gazza.

He's always looked pretty crap to me whenever I've watched him.

Below even Welbeck and Ranger in terms of potential.

Too cumbersome to ever make a decent EPL player.

I'd say he's a darn sight more mobile than rooney!

Still can't see that thread..

.. Im not going to pretend that I have seen his every game last season.. I saw about 4-5 full games (including the arse losing 1-0 in CC!) and then highlights to a lot of the rest.. and needless (maybe not) to say I was impressed and when i heard him linked with Tottenham I was desperate that we bought him!

He went on some maaaazy runs.. dazzling, picked it up, ran with it sometimes bale-esque.. he is enormous as well!

When I read 13mil, what I thought was him lighting things up at Sunderland, getting a call up for England and then being sold on in 2years to a top club for, in two years time who knows, 50mil?

I think when you look at scoring records we are getting a much better deal for Leandro. Wickham has 8 goals in 37 appearances this season in the Championship, Leandro has something like 23 goals in 25 games in Brazil's top league.

I don't know if there is one, I didn't look. Just saying Gazza had more ability in his weaker bollock.

Wickham's a talent. But it's the British way to build players up and for people to knock them before they've even had a chance to establish themselves.

Wickham's 17 and some people say he's shite.... while others say he's the next best thing since sliced bread. The truth? Well, that's probably somewhere in between I guess.

We sghould get involved. It's not to late for him to be "club trained" even if we just loan him out for a while and see how he gets on. If he doesn't really cut it then we could use him as a fourth choice forward in years to come.

Oh yeah and i'd agree with you there.. he is 4 years older than him however, and a more established player.. Wickham, granted, is a bit of gamble as some say he's shit, some he's great..

..Whereas you'd like to think Leandro would have an immediate impact!

Fairplay..gazza was something else..

..and whilst agreeing to disagree, your post made me titter!:)

Or either extreme?

While i agree with you to an extent- that was a really depressing post.. imagine if the player himself read that!..

..But I like your positivity that we should just throw a bid in and see how it goes.. he'd definitely be given a go at spurs what with all the games we'll have, he certainly won't rot!

Erm....why have you started this thread when he is literally on the verge of signing for Sunderland? Having his medical today.

Quite honestly it's the best kind of club for him to go to in the PL. At least there he will get to play. If we signed him he'd just be sat on the bench, if that and be ruined.

This way he can go to Sunderland, see if he can cut it and if he does, we can sign him after that.....good times.

How often in recent years have we heard about the next big thing who is supposed to explode on to the scene and be the new Gazza, Shearer, Rooney, Zidane, Vieria or whoever? generally these players tend to fail to live up to their hype.

I remember people on here saying we should do everything we can to sign Victor Moses not so long ago and what a terrible mistake it was to let him to go Wigan, well thus far he has not produce anything to suggest he will ever be a better PL striker than Cameron Jerome.

As for Wickham.... I am really not convinced by this lad (and I have made a point of trying to watch him when I can since we have had links to him on here for some time) I get the impression he has stood out from young because of his size and strength.

Kind of like he has been a man playing against boys which has made him outstanding at the various youth levels he has played.

I think at best he will become a half decent PL striker, a Kevin Davies (good performer for a mid range team, nothing overly special)

I think the truly great youngsters are pulling up trees by his age, especially in Championship teams and in all honesty whenever I have seen him I have been less than impressed.

I would be very surprised if he ever became a top class striker and if we ever look back to the day where Sunderland picked him up for £13m and regret not taking that chance now (like maybe we should have did at £9m for Ashely Young for example) I would be pretty shocked.

Personally I am happy to not sign him and put him in Harry Kane's way, who probably has a similar chance of reaching the top of the game as Wickham and at least he will cost us nothing and be less of a gamble.

You're agreeing to disagree with him for saying Gazza is streets ahead of any level Wickham can ever reach?

Do you seriously think Wickham will ever be anything like as good as Gazza? are you old enough to have seen Gazza play??

If you are right and this lad goes on to have 2 great seasons at Sunderland, get sold to a top force for £50m and become an international superstar like Gazza was I will bow to your scouting talent and personally start a crusade to make you head scout for Tottenham Hotspur.

Because I really doubt this kid will ever be anything more than a half decent PL player, maybe he will get lucky like Crouch and end up having a better career than his talent warrants and the weakness of English strikers coming up may lead to him getting a default england cap or two but I honestly don't see him ever being a new Rooney.

I didn't know he was having a medical..

I thought that Ipswich had agreed the fee.. was holding out for other bids before he put pen to paper..

..I clearly rate him higher, and would see him as an occasional starter and first choice sub.

Absolutely, I know it is banded around all too often, but once in a while one has to come good?

I honestly hold hope (and diminishing confidence) that he will... I am old enough to have seen the majority of Gazza's career.. certainly his hayday..

..and now I have an added incentive to be proved right, and will sack in any career I have at the time to take up the role as Head scout for Tottenham Hotspur

I'm serious, because you will have spotted talent I never saw and our current scouts have not seen if they are letting him sign for £13m elsewhere
