I actually don't understand on the critics of Skipp. He was absent for so long, and only played in bits while returning. He is just getting back from rustiness. At least his passes were incisive and between the lines instead of keep finding the safer option back to Dier and Lloris like his partner Hojbjerg did.

personally I don't think he's good enough, it's not spot coming back from injury. Hope he proves me wrong obviously, just don't see it

Nice result-mixed feelings.
With you - we could easily have been one or two down at half time, and then the whole complexion changes

It's been done to death, but my God, we need to figure out how to (more rapidly) get ourselves out of the extended spells of 'sh*t Spurs' we find ourselves in every game.

I get that games ebb and flow, but seriously, there are times when we just can't get our of our own half for about 30 minutes. It's bizarre.

Positives though, and several of them.

Importantly as well, Richi, Bentancur and Deki are all first team players - getting them back in the side adds a lot

Started so slow, again. Better finishing, they should have gone ahead first half. Good result but we are far short of where we need to be. With difficult fixtures ahead, it’s going to test everyone’s metal.

Im staying optimistic but being realistic. We are a decent side and agree we need said players back. Last night was very good but we rode our luck a little. Massive games ahead-make or break for me.

Skipp needs to get match fit-simple.

We didn't start slow at all, what the fuck were you watching? We were pretty good first 20 minutes or so without creating too many chances, but we zipped the ball around pretty well and dominated the first half of the first half. We dipped quite sharply for the next 20-25 without question, but the second half was all us. It was in no way a flawless performance, but barring that 25 minutes it was a good showing from us.

That's exactly what I watched too, at half time I thought it was on a knife edge, both teams had good spells in the first half. Second half we were much better however I think that early goal swung things in our favour and we found some confidence.

Literally. That’s without factoring in we had our 4th choice cm and 6th choice forward playing.

A marked improvement and reaction to a very negative and toxic week.

modern football fandom is so weird. If you don’t dominate for 90 mins you get slaughtered.

This made me laugh. Probably because it's so true

We started well, Palace came back into the game and for a team low on confidence, missing several of our better players we rode that out reasonably well and then absolutely tore into them in the second half. The last 15-20 minutes were possibly less than perfect because we took our foot off the gas, several subs disrupting the flow and they created a few half chances but the game was already won.

For sure there were things we could have done better but i'm not sure why the SC penchant to make things up to criticise even gets an airing after a 4-0 away win. Those results aren't easy to get for any team.

It was, overall, a cracking performance, amplified by the horrendous circumstances surrounding the club what with injuries, poor form and the off field shenanigans. Getting a decent result last night under so much pressure, was so, so important. Well done to them. Oh and finally, a game I enjoyed watching.

Not only all of that but we were also treated to Gil showing what's he's capable of and Sarr showing he can be an absolute beast of a player if he is handing right. Don't fuck that one up Spurs.

Second half we got our wing-backs higher up the pitch and moved the ball quicker which made all the difference.
Overall a very decent performance given the absentees and our recent issues with conceding first.
Special mention to Sarr who will be knocking on the door with more performances like that. Won tackles, tidy in possession and constantly on the move; we've been lacking all of those things in Bentancur's absence and he made a difference last night. Bissouma should be made to watch that today and be warned that this kid will overtake him if he doesn't pull his finger out.

They did us proud. Selhurst Park isn't an easy place to go any time, least of all when you're playing badly and constantly making a pig's ear of things. We started fine and matched their intensity and hung in there at times which was a big improvement on recent showings. Happy for Hugo who got a shot at redemption and took it.

Second half we really bossed it and once the 'concede first' monkey was off our back we grew in confidence. Later in the second half we even started playing with a bit of swagger and they couldn't lay a glove on us.

The main thing to take from this is that Conte can (and should) trust the likes of Gil, Skipp, Sarr, White a lot more than he has to date. None of them hid and they all played a part in a very important win. Hopefully he doesn't stifle their natural games because that seems to be what's happened to Bissouma. Not everything has to come straight off the chalk board.

As I've been telling you mate, I don't think we'll have too much to worry about on that front.?

Utterly bizarre playing 5 defenders and 2 in midfield
For the nth time: wingbacks are not defenders. They are attacking midfield players with an auxiliary defending role.

Presumably to make this point to the more obtuse fan, the pre-match team sheets now list the wingbacks alongside Højbjerg, Skipp, Bissouma et al. rather than showing them flanking our three defensive players.

Love this, thought Gil was great last night, yes he is lightweight but not everyone can be a beast. Sometimes lightweight is good it allows you to be nimble and draw fouls. Sarr I think will be a great/special player, we have to nurture this guy.

Mettle.

And we didn’t “start slowly”. We dominated most of the first half hour, without making many quality chances.
