still confident this one will go through but I imagine it will be around the £15m mark. Blackburn are not the richest of clubs and won't be able to ignore profit margins of that amount

So would anyone. But unfortunately it's extremely likely that he'll be a lot more than that. Valencia are supposed to have priced Villa at £32m.

Yes, I know you meant Silva. If Villa's got a £32m asking price, you're probably looking at £20m starters for Silva.

Can people stop mentioning David Silva as if its a possibility. Theres no way in hell he would join a non CL side. Just like Eto'o and Villa. They are in the peak of their careers and they insist on playing at the highest level rather then take a risk with a team that is trying to make it there. Which is why we signed the younger stars like Modric and Giovani. Bentley is in the same bracket as those and thats why he's a realistic target for us.

Besides, these valuations of him are way off the mark and i bet we'd pay a lot closer to £12m (including add ons etc) then £17m. In fact, i think the delay is more to do with Blackburn wanting all the money in one hit and Spurs wanting to pay in installments. Thats my guess at the delay on this one.

That, of course, is the other thing. Ramos may have more sex appeal than Jol, but his pheromones go only so far. You could tell by the way Jol was raving about Robben at the WC that he'd have done anything within reason (and perhaps without) to sign him up, but it wasn't going to happen. Ever.

All deals are done in installments. No club lashes out tens of millions in one year on one player. It's more likely BB are using Villa to maximise their bid, as Charlton did with Wham over Bent, and Liverpool just did to squeeze an extra 2m from Pompey.

Quite. It's an elaborate ritual.

We'd quite possibly have got Bent for a couple of mill less if the Spammers hadn't come galumphing in with an OTT bid. Once those amateur-hour fuckwits had done that it queered the pitch for everyone else.

Its a sad but true fact that we will not be able to obtain players like this until we get CL football. At least not at that age, to move to us and be in that quality bracket they would have to be willing to take a chance on us getting in the CL in the next few years. Thats why it is so important we keep hold of Keane and Berba because we will not repalce them with anyone near as good and will be left with a Carrick situation all over again.

Blackburn Rovers Chairman John Williams and Spurs Chairman, David Levy have reportedly agreed on a 17 million pound transfer fee for Rovers winger, David Bentley. Additional to this deal, Paul Robinson will be heading over to Ewood Park.

This provides two points of discussion. 17 million pounds is fair enough in my opinion for David Bentley. However, with Paul Robinson also included, we surely have the better of the deal.

But, with Robinson coming our way, does this mean the end of the Friedel dynasty....it would be shame as we all love our American Idol.

More to be confirmed as the news breaks.....

If it is 17 mill + Robinson we are paying over the top on this one. Lets say Robinsonis worth 3 mill that mean 20 mill altogether heh but hey, it might all just be media crap...again...like usual...

I really don't care if we sign Bentley anymore and to be honest I was only luke warm on the idea to begin with. Even if it was just £17million that would be way, way over the top. :-|

It may be tho that it's say £13/14m plus Robbo - in which case that's pretty much a fair deal all round

I'm assuming in all this that Bentley wants to come to us - because a fired up Bentley is a valuable asset :)

I think with Bentley and dos santos - should Keane leave we might not have a pressing need to replace him - but for sure we need Berbs or a target man like Cruz - but can't see Rovers ripping their team apart to that extent for us
