How many assists does he have thus far?
4. In games we have played 3-4-2-1 Alli has 7 goals and 2 assists in 7 games with 6 goals and 2 assists in 19 games in 4-2-3-1.

Together with Kane's stats in 3-4-2-1, it obviously gets the best out of them.

13 league goals in 26 appearances according to Wiki, incredible stats that even a centre forward would be proud of!

As per Jenas article I linked above, he does work so much better in a 3-4-2-1 rather than the more rigid 4-2-3-1.

Hopefully we'll look to strengthen squad to allow us to keep it as the main default formation / system.

Kane & Dele must be our best front two since Berbatov & Keane. I just love how Dele has the audacity to attempt the nutmegs, flicks and goals.

What a talent.

There is- his biological mum denies it.
So confused...

Edit: I did respond to this but on second thoughts it's not important.

The guy is such a talent and we're lucky to have him. Out of curiosity how would you guys set up and England team to get the best of Kane and Dele (if you were guaranteed there'd be no injuries)?

Depending on the manner in which a team plays all formations are potentially rigid or not

Style of play determines rigidity not the formation imo

No Rooney, Henderson and Milner for a start.

IMO, Engalnd should also go 3-4-2-1. It gets the best out of Kane, Alli, Walker and Rose and, IMO, would get the best out of Stones. It would probably bring the best out of Wilshire too but I can't face putting him in the team. The biggest Issue for me is who plays CM.

Personally, I would like to see England try

Hart
Dier Cahill Stones
Walker Henderson Drinkwater Rose
Alli Lallana/Sterling
Kane

*Only put Henderson and Drinkwater as I can't think of anyone else, though I would be tempted to give Lewis Baker ago, as he does great for the England U21s and is having a very good season for Vitesse.

As above - 3-4-2-1 to get the best out of our boys and Stones, as well as give Lallana and Sterling a bit of freedom:

Hart
Dier Smalling Stones
Walker Henderson Lallana Rose
Sterling Kane Alli
Southgate will never try it but it's well worth a go.

What's the record for PL goals from a midfielder before your 21st birthday? As far as I can see Alli's tally of 23 is ahead of all the obvious candidates I can think of, or at least will be:

Alli 23 (and counting)
Giggs 23
Sterling 22 (!)
Barmby 19
Fabregas 15
Ronaldo 14
Scholes (technically a striker at the time) 11
Lampard 10
Gerrard 8
Beckham 7

Bet it's someone really obscure isn't it?

It should be noted that he's played far fewer games at this level than Sterling and Barmby for example to reach this tally.

Rooney?

Amazing that fans of other clubs think he is overrated. He's very much still a work in progress but I love the guy. If he keeps his head on his shoulders and keeps learning he can be world class.

Charlie Adam just said on the radio he's the best player he's played against this season. Said you don't realise just how good he is until you have to try and mark him.

He also said he didn't think he was dirty, just that he could look after himself. Not sure how to view that considering the source.

Was chatting with a mate during the Everton game and we were saying Alli was having a bad game. Nothing was coming off for him but we both said he would probably still score and sure enough he did. Good thing about Alli in this formation is he doesn't have to be permanently in the game he only needs moments and he invariably produces.

I'd liken his and Kane's partnership to that of Shearer and Sheringham for England. Lots of guile and plenty of force but more importantly lots of end product. As others have said I hope we strengthen in the summer to make sure we have good options to play the 3-4-2-1. I'd like to think with more game time Wimmer and CCV will be able to step up. If not then maybe bringing in an experienced CB with good experience of the formation would be good.

Funnily enough I've also been thinking about England and if 3-4-2-1 would work.

Dier would also be at centre back now and not holding.

Thinking about possibly line-ups really bought home how shit our centre back and centre midfield options in particular at the moment.

We had a period of having a few decent centre backs (Adams, Southgate, Terry, Campbell :)mad:), Rio, Lescott) but the current lot are pretty turd. Lescott would have been ideal in a back three in a similar way to Vertonghen being a left centre back / left back hybrid).

We haven't really got any decent defensive midfielders apart from Dier and he's not been playing that for us lately and been a tad off-form if asked to do so.

And attacking midfielder wise we have nothing near the talent of Eriksen or Gerrard / Scholes in their prime.

Up top as well we have Kane, Vardy (who is unproven and a little old / reliant on long ball), Sturridge (made of glass) and Wellbeck (who I like and could play wide role but again very injury-prone since being at Arsenal with their dodgy medical team).

Anywhoo having a try:

Hart

Dier Jones Greening

Walker Drinkwater Winks (one day!) Rose

Barkley / Wellbeck / Sterling Dele

Kane

Wow... (I've probably missed players as so meh abaout England thesedays).

No doubt Rooney will still be crammed in even though past it and not even playing st Man U.
