I still can't understand why we haven't gotten the best out of Gio yet. He's a fantastic talent, always has been.

Not too bad from a "useless drunk". Wonder if Spurs/Harry was watching?

1 good goal against an average side doesnt mean to much to me and hopefully not Harry. If/when he starts doing it against the top teams then i will sit and take notice. Was the same in the WC - decent against South Africa but against the better sides he went missing. Good finish to his credit though

Phenomenal chip. To me that just proves that he should have been the replacement for VDV in every game last year. Everyone seems very quick to say he hasn't proven himself.... I have to ask, have we ever played him in his preferred position to give him that chance to prove himself.

I thought after a decent pre-season last summer he would have got his chance... but apparently not.

So I doubt he ever will, and will undoutedly move on this summer to the highest bidder.

It's yet another that we'll wonder about what might have been...

He doesnt have to play 10 first team games in a row to have been given a chance. He would have got his chance every day in training and didnt take it. Its like claiming I havent had a chance as they havent played me - maybe id be world class? The team is picked from how they train and rightly so.

He shouldn't be cover for Bale or Lennon. He is a forward. He should be coming on for VDV on 60 - 75 minutes. Awesome player who Harry seeks to malign more often than is fair. Triffic Rooney and Gerrard dont like a beer do they? Never catch them in a nightclub would you?

It's not as easy as that.

Going by that, Crouch must be one hell of of a trainer and shows ability we have not seen in a game then ( like how to strike a ball well ), to be starting as often as he does, more than the other forwards.

Personally, I just dont think Gio is in the managers plans and it doesn't matter how well he would train, that is just as likely a scenario as what you are saying.

We don't know how well Gio trains, to claim that is the reason, is without proof and just taking it on blind faith that Harry must always be right, or that it is nothing to do with him possibly being just plain out of favour.

We just don't know...

saw the game last night , gio's goal was simply amazing and none of the strikers on our books could do that (least of all crouch or defoe)
harry needs to coach this kid instead of sending him off on loan , we are going to regret selling him if he goes this summer , he has the ability to be a quality forward , just needs to stop being immature and knuckle down and work hard

Not at all. Crouch has a record in football that is decent - yeah hes been poor in front of goal (though has assisted VDV for many of his goals) but he has proven in his career that he is a decent enough striker. His record for England is very good and he was also very popular at his previous clubs for his performances (Liverpool fans loved him in the main). GDS doesnt have a record or any past history - he is simply a talent, and one who hasnt made much progress over the past few years.

That goal he scored is amazing. Wow.

Anyway, after the pre-season friendly against Villareal in which he scored, I really thought he was going to get a chance at Spurs but it wasn't to be. What a shame.

Oh, sorry. Thought it was only PL.
2/8 in three years is unbelievable.

more than Bostock though! Cant believe he isnt playing - so much potential but wont get a game. what is harrys problem? also why isnt he playing ben alnwick when none of our keepers are top drawer? never gives him a chance to fulfil the potential he showed as a kit - we ve ruined him! hmm..........
