Unless we get more injuries between now and the game, my best guess for the starting 11 is this.

Forster
Romero - Dier - Lenglet
Porro - PEH - Skipp - Tanganga
Deki - Kane - Son

Subs: Danjuma, Sarr, Devine, Lucas, Sanchez, Mundle and whoever else isn't injured

Subs bench will be interesting!

assume

porro Romero Sanchez Dier Lengelet
Hojberg Skipp
Kulu Kane Son

danjuma Moura Tanganga Sarr. The next 4 is a struggle! Maybe Sess if fit.

Tanganga at LWB would be a disaster, offers no threat going forward & playing inverted.

If we have only a single wing-back, never mind one for either side, never mind a backup whatsoever on either side, it seems mad to not consider switching to a 4 when at least Tanganga can do a job on either side and Lenglet could do some kind of a shift at LB. Even Dier could play RB if necessary. Paskotski can cover FB in an absolute pinch if we lose someone else.

I cannot overstate how mad it will be to try and play a wingback system with only one wingback out of four. Better to shore it up with a flat back 4 if necessary...surely?

Well - we have 1 WB and 0 FBs.

Not sure we have great options either way.

I don’t see how we can play 3-5-2 with only one fit wing-back. I think we have to go four at the back and play Lenglet at LB Porro at RB. Kulusevski tends to work hard defensively so Porro shouldn’t struggle too much. And Lenglet’s defensive attributes and decent ability on the ball should mean he can cope.

the only issue is we have like no candidates to take up the extra attacking midfield role unless we move Kulusevski to the centre and that’s a complete unknown quantity.

if we just packed the midfield with Hojbjerg, Skipp and Sarr we might just get crowded in the middle without any extra ability to create chances.

alternatively, we could play Son or Danjuma as a second striker in a 4-4-2. I would def fancy this if Richarlison were fit as you know he would put a shift in at LW. I just don’t know if Son or Danjuma would do enough defensively to make it work on the left-wing.

there are no easy answers.

Perisic doesn't do enough defensively anyway. Here are Danjuma stats playing LWB for Club Brugge. 1 of those goals was vs Atletico Madrid.

Personally I would play this. I would give Kulu a free role in the Odegaard type position and see how he gets on. We are so badly hit with injuries.

We could Play Son at left back, ok I know it's not a cup semi final at Wembley against Chelsea but....
Seriously though we have a hole at lwb so best to keep the back three and rwb in place then it's just the left that's a problem. If we start shifting people around by going to a back four we're introducing extra areas of weakness. I expect we'll play Danjuma on the left and hope for the best, I don't expect Everton to come at us in waves.

I think Paskotsi should play LWB, he's always impressed me when Ive seen him. I also read Richy might be back, which is good news.
I also think Danjuma is good, and happy if a place can be found for him too

Unless someone can tell me otherwise, I'm not aware of Danjuma ever playing wing-back in his career, certainly not LB. I'd sooner play one of the youth players than attempt that madness.

To me, Lenglet could do a job at LB in a back 4 so I'd hope that we would revert to a type of lobsided back 4. Allow Porro to push on when we attack but keep the remaining 3 defenders in place, drop into a back 4 when defending. Get the extra man in CM with Sarr and then the front 3 remains as it is. Skipp as the sitting CDM and free up PEH to try and pick passes (which he can do) and push forward when possible to support the attack.

If we want to play 343, then I'd still be ok with Lenglet at LWB. He's not slow, he can cross well and likes to get forward anyway from CB so it would be ok in that respect. The issue would be who plays at LCB out of Sanchez or Tanganga. Yikes.

I think both Paskotsi and Danjuma have played LWB before, and to me as a current international Paskotsi is the stand out choice
I hope players like Lankshear, Mundle, Donley and Devine make the bench. Not all of them but some, of the many things that frustrated me under Conte was his reluctance to play Academy prospects
