I can easily see this Brasil side winning the World Cup. Dunga's favouring pace and power, which his system is set up for. This will be a Brasil team that can defend, so we can expect 1-0s from them. Also, Maicon or Dani Alves?

Maicon every time, although I would find a place for Alves at RM.

I can see them winning it too, especially if Spain continue to have injury problems (Torres, Fabregas, Xavi and Iniesta all with problems) and Argentina in the hands of Diego 'I'm going to play 4 centre backs, not take one of the best midfielders in the world to the World Cup and let all my opposition know our only tactic is feed Messi' Maradona in charge.

Oh and Maicon all day. Twice the player of Dani Alves in my opinion. He might end up playing both though.

Alves really does flourish in the Barca set up. Brazil aren't really set up like that under Dunga though. So Maicon really suits them much better than Alves. I would've said Alves in the last Brazil World Cup team. I'm sure he'll be involved in games, just not likely from the start.

had a look this morning but couldnt see anything about the additional 7 players including sandro and ronaldinho. where'd you lads see that? amazed that gilberto made it considering the games he played for us. was at the moscow game where he was taken off at half time, never thought he'd play at a decent level again

I actually don't rate Alves at all. I think he looks like the odd one out in the Barca team.

Two great GKs though, tight defence, Kaka, and a prolific striker in Fabiano. They will be there or there abouts.

Fabiano is no Ronaldo though is he?

I just think this Brazil team lacks a certain spark. It's very ordinary.

Maybe they will play with 2 keepers......

Fabiano can not be in the same breath as even a fat Ronaldo.

Kaka is a great player, but doesn't have the creative spark of a Ronaldinho or Rivaldo, that can conjur something out of nothing.

Hang on, wasn't it Gilberto and Gnomes who apparently spoke different dialects of Brazilian and cost us a goal a couple of season ago?

I honestly can't remember who was in goal for that game, I just remember Gilberto dithering, the keeper not coming out and someone nipping in to slot it past both?

Are Brazil that short on left backs?

There's no such thing.

Dunga rated Gilberto, and Brazil have a choice of LB's including Barcelona's Maxwell who hasn't been named.

That is the worst Brazil side since 1990. Some true shit in there.

I don't think there are any players in that squad that wouldn't improve on Spurs squad, with the exception of perhaps the CB's and Gilberto.

Dunga's team is more about being a team than being a collection of individuals.

On paper England have one of the strongest teams every cup, but we can't get it together as a team.

Brazil 4 years ago were shocking because of their lack of team spirit, it was 11 players all playing for themselves.

It seems as though Dunga has his favourites and any player who has done well for him in the past will get into the squad regardless of form. There's probably 10 players I would have in the squad but obviously Dunga doesn't feel the need to change much/anything.

Good to see Sandro named in the additional 7 players, obviously won't make the 23 man squad unless there's an injury or two but it's looking promising for him.

Is Gomes 2nd or 3rd choice Brasil_Spur? Doni is another favourite of Dunga's because of the loyalty he's shown in the past, but taking that out of the way then Gomes should really be ahead of him.

Gomes is just amazing and deserves his call up. Him being in goal would seriously improve Brazil's chances of winning the tournament. Unless he gets a hangnail or something which stops him playing

As to Brazil's current playing style, my old dad's theory seems like a fair one.

In days gone by, the Brazilians by and large played at home, in their own league, with their own unique style, which the rest of the world looked upon in stunned admiration every few years. But over the last 20 plus years or so, the real money for footballers has been in Europe, so the top Brazilians have gone there. Since the European style has always been more regimented and of the "team mentality" rather than encouraging too much self expression, the Brazilian way of doing things is often pressured out of them once they come over here. And this has a knock on effect to the national team style and performances. Thoughts?

The argies have the best squad, but Maradonna is a shockingly bad coach. They SHOULD piss it.... But they may well implode.

Yeah you can't coach on passion alone.

It would be funny if his WC ban kicked in from his playing days.

I watched some Argie league footy a while back. It was intense, fast, skillful and extremely hard fought. If you beat players with that much skill/tenacity, you pretty much deserve the WC.
