every keeper in the league has made some blunders. Worthless thread.

While i disagree that its a worthless thread (see below) I do agree that every keeper makes blunder.

But Gomes hasn't looked himself, confidence or what ever something has effected him and I hope he pulls him self out of it soon.

Quality keeper that still pulls off top saves each game

The reason Gomes is being called into action much more is because we now attack much more with our defence much more exposed, hence the non-existant clean sheets. There is probably only 2 or 3 goalkeepers on the planet that I would want in goal instead of Gomes. He is one of the best in the world and I wouldnt change him for miss world.

I've been away from the forum for a while and the insults being traded are getting worse

Why can't people disagree without abusing the other person. Mods?

Gomes has clearly made some blunders this season. It's a worthy topic.

Check the other threads which have been started by the thread poster - he's a wind-up merchant, you've just missed out.

I agree with this. I'm hoping that having the last couple of weeks without a game will calm him down a bit and get him back to his best.

Its all well and good saying that the defence in front of him aren't helping but it seems to me that when they do need a bit of help and look to pass and see Gomes is the only option, they prefer to kick it out.

During the Chelsea game one of our defenders was trying to shield the ball back to Gomes to pick it up. He came running out and smashed it against the defender sending it out for a throw. I would like to have seen the response on here had that hit our player and gone into our net!

Watched the 95/96 & 96/97 premier league season reviews this week.

Man Utd won both. Peter Schmeichel, considered by many as the best EPL keeper ever, notably made many "howlers".

It happens to ever keeper. Gomes is just an easy target for the press.

That happens to most keepers at some point. they think the defender is going to get a touch - it's a no win situation for a keeper in that position. No blame on Gomes there for me.

Lennon showing Albrighton the inside was much worse.

I started this thread. He wasnt to blame for the goal.

What he was thinking when he brought Heskey down is another matter.

Couple of blinding saves plus a few moments of madness. Typical Gomes performance really.

Hoddle thought Gomes could have done better for the goal and I agree. Some good saves but the challenge on Heskey was lunacy. He hasn't been at his best this season.

Better goalies than Gomes have been caught out in the same situation. There's not enough time to react, you don't know if the incoming player is going to get a touch.

As Hoddle said, you have to take that chance. If the Villa player gets something on it, fair enough. But he was indecisive and it was a very soft goal.

I have lost a lot of confidence in Gomes. I'm not saying I want rid but he has been shaky for the past few months-nowhere near as good as he was last season.

He could do nothing about the goal. He had a bad decision when he went into the challenge with Heskey though, that was seriously stupid. Otherwise he did well today.

I think Hoddle is the best pundit out there and I am going to row in behind him. He should be on the box more often-unlike that clown Yorke who refers to Villa, Utd and Sunderland as "we". Fucking moron.
