You mean he wouldn't solve all our goal scoring issues?

Doesn't look like it... he did get into the box a few times but it looked half baked.
Can run into space in the middle of the park, so could replace Jenas?!

He didn't once come for the ball off a corner or pick it up, so I am not sure he should play in goal either... mind you, none of our other keepers catch the ball form a corner, so who knows?!

No point signing him. Clears the ball so will be slated like Dawson.

Don't think people mind Dawson clearing the ball when he's under pressure, what people object to is when Dawson has loads of time, a midfielder's showing for the ball and is in space, but Dawson chooses to try and ping a diagonal and messes it up. Don't think people would even complain if he tried it once a game, but he does it repeatedly.

On the other hand he's great at facing the play and clearing the bombs aimed at the edge of the box. But turn him, face him up, nip in behind him, and he's a liability. His lack of pace and agility at this level (far worse than Terry for example), are what make him a decent to good PL CB, rather than a good to excellent one.

Harry however, loves his leadership. He's vocal. Unfortunately I don't think he reads the game brilliantly, and sometimes his yelling seems to spread panic rather than calm. I think he'd find his level at a West Brom or Aston Villa tbh, but we've developed as a squad beyond him, in a similar way to what's happened with JJ. Basically he's a vocal JJ.

caulker should stay with swansea for another year, i know it looks nice listing a bunch of names as our cb options but you only play two at a time ... it's no good for anyone if caulker is sitting on the bench or worse not even in the match day squads.
Are you serious?

Did you sleep through the last 5 seasons?

If there is one thing we can guarantee our CH's it is playing time.

caulker should be playing every week though, he's just not going to get that when he has kaboul, dawson, gallas, vertonghen(if he signs) ahead of him and king/nelsen if they're still here. unless we're planning on going to a back 6 anytime soon.

Agreed. Caulker needs to be playing 30+ competitive games a season at this stage of his development, he's better off playing full seasons under a coach like Rogers than he is spending a year as cover under a non-coach like Redknapp.

At the very least I'd expect him to make the tea.

If Caulker played in all the domestic cup games, was first choice whenever Kaboul or Vertonghen are injured and played in any dead rubbers in the Champions League, that would do me. But then, I don't really buy this idea of player a being first choice and player b being the second choice. They all train together in front of the manager every day and have the opportunity to earn a place in the team. I have no problem with having five centre-backs for two positions, and they should all strive in training to earn a place. If We sign Vertonghen, and Caulker impresses so much in training and cup games that he takes Vertonghen's place, so be it. Equally, I'd be happy if Vertonghen and Kaboul form a brilliant partnership, play together every week and don't let a goal in between now and 2017, with Caulker rooted to the bench if it means we're successful.

Has Jake Livermore not played 37 times this season?
Yes, but not in the league. You can't ask Steven Caulker to come back from a loan spell in the PL with Swansea City being an excellent performer, playing week in week out, to playing a few PL league games here, a few cup games there, it's just not fair on him, or for his progression as a footballer.

No, but you can ask him to come back and fight for a starting place like Walker.

Well with a manager who actually rotated the squad, this wouldn't be much of an issue. We'll hopefully be looking to give it the old college try in 4 comps.
