smiley2.gif

He is only intrested at present coming to Spurs and we havent put enough beans on the table yet

Johno RE Vertonghen

Quote:

They have put slightly less down than us,our deal is good for Ajax in the long term they just want all the fee at once rather than add ons,and before anyone says im passing on what im told.

Archibald's response to the above

not far from correct at all..

its getting closer but Ajax holding out for more..

We hope to wrap it up this week nut may not be announced yet

Not sure how much truth there is in it but some reports saying Barcelona have made a late bid to get him.

The issue must be the fee Levy will be trying to get him for next to nothing whereas Ajax will want a decent fee even though he is out of contract next year

Saying that he wants first team football something which he is not garanteed at Barca

I personally think he (and any sensible, ambitious player) would rather take the risk and see if he can break through and make it at Barca - an amazing city and amazing football club - than come to a side trying to establish themselves in the CL.

Also Puyol is on the decline, Mascherano is being used as CB a lot, Pique fell out of favour too...more than enough chance that Vertonghen could become a regular there.

No one is saying that other clubs aren't interested in him, or that Spurs are his favourite club, but the only quotes from him regarding his transfer, has been towards a transfer to Tottenham and very complimentary quotes of how he would like to fit into our way of play and how we have every chance that he will sign for us.

You didn't pay attention to my earlier posts. Those quotes from the Sun were fabricated.

Of course they were, like its fabricated Arsenal, Barca, Madrid <Insert big name club whenever we're interested in any player> and like the quotes from Van Der Vaart all fabricated
