Similar to Ledley King playing wise, left footed...very good coming out of the back with the ball.

Plays a lot of LB for Belgium with Kompny and Vermelane as first choice. Very versatile can play CB/LB/DM

3/4th of their usual starting line-up in defence is from the Ajax academy.

Alderweireld - Kompany - Vermaelen - Vertonghen

They owe a lot to us. :p

He wasn't just at the game, but also came with his agent and they had a meeting with the Spurs board. Telegraaf reported this late in the night and had an update later. Was trying to post this yesterday, but couldn't get on somehow. :)

Whats the feeling in Holland then, Deselina? Do they think we (Spurs) will get this deal done or not?

Serious question. Is he any good?

Don't know anything about him to be honest. Is the first choice for Belgium?

What kind of style centre half is he?

He had just won Eredivisie player of the Year. That's all you need to know. :)

Think Vermaelen, but taller so even better in the air. Very comfortable on the ball and composed in front of goal, 9 goals this season and 7 last year. With 2 goals scored in his 36 NT games he has actually scored more goals than most of Belgiums forwards including Hazard. :p

Ajax are known to score a lot of goals (this season 93 in 34), but have consistently had the best defence in Eredivisie for a couple of seasons running.

I think he turned Arsenal down because he knows they are going into some kind of transition period and because he prefers to play CB, they wanted him as DM. So yes, it does look like he will sign for Spurs.

His girlfriend is Dutch, they've been together since high school (pre-university secondary education) and she has a job in the theater business. They were in an interview together last year (amidst similiar transfer rumours) where she said that she will find it hard to move since she loves her job and everything. With London being so close to Amsterdam this makes sense why he has ruled out a move to Milan.

I'd be very happy if Spurs acquire him. Kaboul, Vertonghen, Dawson, Caulker, and an old head like King or Gallas is a solid foundation at CB. Some nice versatility in style and position too.

On a related note, Vertonghen IN would almost assuredly mean Corluka OUT. That's probably for the best. Give Naughton time up with the big boys to learn first-hand in training and get spot duty along the way at both LB/RB. His ability to cover both fullback spots, and Vertonghen to also cover DM, would open up a gameday bench spot for another player too.

Will be a good signing for Jol..........

Jol is looking for a replacement for Dembele and has his eyes on Ola John and Nacer Chadli from Twente. Ola John is likely to sign for Benfica so Chadli will be Fulhams main transfer target I think. Chadli has been favoured to Dembele in the Belgian NT.

Arsenal are going to sign M'Villa aren't they? what with already having Song I'm surprised they'd want him as a DM

Also where is Dembele going?

A lot of Arsenal fans don't rate Song as a defensive midfielder. He doesn't have the positional discipline to play there. More of a box-to-box I'd say they want Song to play as. Defensively he hasn't been all that this year, but going forward he's good.

I thought he'd had a really good season?

Yeah but judging by my mates and the d-bags on Arsenal-Mania they don't really reckon him as a solid defensive unit in midfield. They blame him for a lot of their goals it seems as he doesn't stay in position - which I guess is a double edged sword as if he wasn't getting forward he wouldn't be getting the amount of assists that he has.

I think I read that DEMBELE completed more tackles than any other player in the league
