you are entitled to your opinion just like others - but there was no need to come out with the summer holidays quip which was clearly an attempt to belittle the poster!

As i have said before, yes there are better players than JJ out there but the simple fact is that in our most successful period in the last 20 years - JJ has been a regular starter in CM (a key position). 2 5th placed finishes and 2 cup finals with him in the middle suggests to me he isnt as bad as some may think

I reckon your spot on

It's all about opinions, you know we're right and they havn't got a scooby:wink:.....and you cant beat a bit of banter

As for the 6 weeks summer holidays, i wish!

Just going on what I saw with my own eyes for three years. England caps don't mean much to me, for f* sake Carlton Palmer got 18 caps!

well my eyes dont lie to me week in week out
he constantly loses possesion , passes sidewards/backwards when the pass forward is open , dissapears when up against class opposition and really does not appear to give a damn about breaking into a sweat whilst wearing a spurs shirt.
still everyone sees games differently , i see mine from behind the goal and there is always a lot of negative comments about jenas every game he plays bar ar5ena1 when he shows glimpses of being a player !)

for me we need quality 38 games a season instead of 2

or do mine and i see mine from the half way line in the east upper. Yes i see he gives away possession sometimes but less than Palacios - yes i see him pass backwards and sideways but i also see him going from box to box and ALWAYS showing for the ball.

As said its all about opinions!

I saw plenty of Nielsen in a Spurs shirt, best described as a very limited work horse.

Jenas has proved himself well above Nielsen's level.

You seem to say this quite a bit, do you think that you're the only person that's ever been to a game or something?

Yea, you're obviously not a student ... we get three months!

(at least I do)

I don't really have anything to add to the real debate, but I think that him being a regular in two 5th place finishes and two cup finals says all that you need to know. He might have his flaws, he might be inconsistent, but outside the Champions League clubs I can't see anyone who I'd rather have except for Fellaini.

Where have the 'good goal to game ratio brigade' gone

Read my last post before you comment, or maybe that's why you haven't

Nielson better than Jenas? Are we talking about the same Alan Nielson whom we ended up selling to watford?

If I remember correctly he was a workhorse, who did the job in a squad lacking workhorses. But he was technically lacking, an average passer and was absolutely no threat to goal (although that was not his job). Once we signed Sherwood and Freund he was surplus to the squads needs.

Now Freund or Jenas would be an interesting one. Very different players but both part time internationals for big nations. My head would say Jenas but my heart would say Freund.

Stephen Ireland is an amazing player. Every time I watch him he gives a 8 or 9/10 performance. He is everything we want Jenas to be.

No way should Jenas be sold this summer. We need to bring someone in to push him for his place, but that doesn't mean it has to be one in, one out.

In the long term, who knows? Maybe the player we bring in breaks into the team in his place, maybe Jenas can't win his place back, and maybe he eventually decides he'll get more football elsewhere...

Right now though, that's all subjective, as we haven't even bought that player to push him for his place in the team. Also, he was doing well last season with Palacios anyway, so let's see if this continues.

I do feel that he needs competition though. Competition would either make him consistent, or break him. If it breaks him, sure, sell him then.
