Skysports.com understands Lassana Diarra has agreed his move to Portsmouth from Arsenal.

The French international has been locked in talks with Pompey boss Harry Redknapp this week after they agreed a fee in the region of £5million with Arsenal for the midfielder.

Diarra has agreed personal terms and passed a medical at Fratton Park and is set to be unveiled as Pompey's latest signing later this week.

Is this window going to be the same as past windows, we miss out on the players we need in our problem positons and sign others that won't displace our starting 11...

In fairness we can't blame DC, the chances that Wenger would even entertain an offer from us for Diarra are slim to none so it shouldn't be a suprise. Besides, I'm sure we'll go out and strike a deal for someone older and more experienced which is arguably what we need, we have enough young, promising, talent. We need another Davids-esque buy in my opinion.....well maybe not quite as old and someone who will pay for a few seasons rather than just half of one!

If we splash out on Fred and let Diarra slip away I won't be very impressed with our transfer policy.

Let's see...

Fred - Never played in England, would need time to adapt, oh and we already have four great strikers.

Diarra - Played in Prem before, wouldn't need much time to adapt, could be the centre midfielder we're lacking...

Mr Levy, Mr Comolli, Mr Ramos... Rocket science?

not impressed with this one....diarra is just the type of player we needed

What young, Inexperienced, Unproven...

yes we need a lot more of those

we've got bigger fish to fry than Diarra, He's just Teemu Tainio with a sun lamp, and if he can kick up such a fuss at Arsenal, Chelsea do Pompey dare drop him if he has a couple of bad games? especially when the first choice midfielders get back from the ANC?

Arsenal wouldn't have wanted him to sign for us and would likely have refused any offers we made for him if they had other bidders.

And why is Diarra suddenly so good when he can't hold down a regular place at either Chav$ki or the scum?

I would rather we set our sights higher.

maybe we have a deal in which portsmouth take diarra from arse (cos they dont wanna sell to us) and then use him as a makeweight in a deal for defoe or boateng?!

if only....

Totally agree. He was never gonna join us from arsenal. People are too quick to spout off. There's still 2 weeks until the end of the window - a lot can happen between now and then.

Or maybe he won't start when Muntari returns and he will demand another transfer and we can get him for our subs bench at that time.

I know we have been crap this season for numerous reasons, but many pundits such as Alan Hansen see us as the biggest threat to the 'Big 4'. And this seems obvious when we are after a player from Woolwich or Chelski for instance. Diarra is just the latest example of a host of players such as Bridge/Swp etc that have failed to materialise.

he has the talent to be a top player but theres a reason he never got a look in at chelski for the smaller games at centre mid and a reason why wenger didnt start him either. he hasnt exactly waited long at arsenal for a chance has he?!?! im not convinced that not signing him is a huge mistake

It may have cost us a bit more than £5mil but i'm really, really disappointed that we were pushed out by Pompey...

Who else thinks we'll be here on the last day of the window, Comolli and Levy desperately faxing random CL clubs asking who they've got left they don't want etc.

I get the distinct impression we're going to quickly turn into a laughing stock if it carries on in this trend of going after players and never, ever getting them.

Look at when we signed Bent, look at all the hundreds of amazingly talented players we were rumoured to be in for and have gone on to show they do have a lot of promise and talent in the Prem. We get a guy who, whilst not bad at a shitum team, now couldn't find his left hand with his right and appears to be allergic to scoring.

I won't point the finger at Comolli as some smug wanker will come on here and start defending him - if that's you then who's fault is it? We kicked out our manager and got "the popular choice", a man who is apparently highly regarded amongst the better teams and players in Europe 'cept ask them to put their money where their mouth is and they aren't rushing to play for him, are they?

Who's not doing their job? Who's actively causing these players to not want to come to Spurs; a team with plenty of prospects, plenty of money, European football and a loyal fanbase.

David, it's over to you...

Dissappointed, but no way were they going to sell a player like that to us.

This is very depressing. It is either they wouldn't sell to us, or Commoli is holding out for Zokora to come good!

Huge beat.
