Didn't see it, but last I read about him they were thinking of sending him back in January.
Yeah, same. But he looked very good, albeit against not great opposition. He was press resistant, shifted the ball well, strong defensively. He looked good

They won’t. They’re playing poorly, they have injuries and they never really turn up against arsenal like they do us.

But we all know how weird football can be. History is no guarantee of the present or future. We live in hope anyway.

I hate them so much, it's going to do my head in watching tomorrow and hoping they win, but that's what I'll have to do.
It’s my least favourite fixture in the pl, I hate both in equal measure. It’s one of those games where I want them both to lose, badly

?? funny

When Thomas Tuchel first told Ruben Loftus-Cheek that he might play him at right-wing back, the midfielder couldn't help but laugh.

Loftus-Cheek had just returned to Chelsea for pre-season in the summer of 2021 following a season-long loan down the road at Fulham and was just getting to know Tuchel, who was sacked by Chelsea in September this year.

Even though he faced the daunting prospect of trying to break into a team that had just beaten Man City 1-0 to win the Champions League, Loftus-Cheek was sceptical about his coach's idea.

"Wing-back?!" he responded, almost waiting for his new boss to tell him this was all a practical joke.

But the 'gotcha' moment never came. "Yeah, I think it would be good", said Tuchel.

Loftus-Cheek's towering figure and large frame aren't exactly the attributes of the archetypal wing-back. He'd spent most of his career as an attack-minded or box-to-box midfielder.

"I didn't know what to think of it," Loftus-Cheek exclusively tells Sky Sports ahead of Chelsea's trip to Newcastle on Saturday Night Football. "He mentioned it and I laughed.

"I'd never played in the back-line in my professional career."

He had played out wide earlier in his career at times, but solely with an attacking remit. This was something completely alien to him.

"In the modern game the wing-backs are influencing a lot in the final third," Loftus-Cheek says of his newly adopted role, "It's not like a proper defender. It's like a hybrid - can attack and defend."

"I played there and I played well. I learned to adapt" he adds.

He's not good enough mind. There is a reason he doesn't play and a reason he didn't at Juve. Panic buy from Juve and a panic loan from Chelsea.

Chelsea have had a pretty terrible start to the season.

We are 8 points ahead of them having already gone to Emirates, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have yet to play any of the traditional top 6 sides away from home.

Potentially premature to say this but is there place at the top table at risk?
I don't rate their attacking options, I like Potter but they do seem far off it, even with the big spending.

Big mistake?

Wrong Manager at the wrong club. At this rate he will be lucky to be there next season.

Bought badly in the summer as well, it was complete scattergun.

Sterling's being found out outside the comfort zone of quality teammates at City.
Aubameyang was a desperate signing because they let Lukaku go.
Zakaria a desperate loan punt for midfield cover.
Cucurella is alright but they way overpaid.
Fofana is quality but has seemingly constant injury issues.
Koulibaly hasn't settled in the league yet it seems.

Thank Barcelona's levers for stealing all Chelsea's main targets so they ended up with a weaker squad than last season.

He's getting found out. The superlative 'chef's kiss' manager that he is should be doing better with this group of players.
In fairness I think Tuchel is a top tier manager Potter is a promising one. I think you can't really judge potter without him having had time to set out his vision. The issue is that Chelsea players may not have bought into him and if that's the case it's almost impossible to turn it around.

Reality is more than bad management it's a case of clueless running of the club.

I wonder if they will allow him to bring in the players he wants or the Chairman will continue to do the buying ?
