They would have spent half of that on Van Dijk, leaving another 60 odd 70 million on a replacement or two.. interesting to see who they would bring in..

A few journos now saying Coutinho to Barca has been agreed at 142m quid/160m Euros. Madness.

Good player but Liverpool are getting the better deal there. Their other 3 attackers are performing better right now and they'll continue to have a very strong attack even without him. If they strengthen their defence with that money (additional to VvD) then they'll be bloody strong.

I don't think Coutinho is at Barca's level, to be honest. He's just short of it. I may be proven wrong but I reckon he'll do okay but not shine like Neymar and Suarez have.

Barca are going to have to move on a few squad players to make this work. That's a whole lot of the Neymar money for a player nowhere near Neymar's level. Not that many are.

You can see why Liverpool would take the money but January is an odd time to do the deal, unless they have someone else lined up (linked to Mahrez today...). They also need a goalie.

BBC reporting it now too. Second-highest transfer. Hopefully they'll spend it all on someone shit.

Salah has been on fire but after him Coutinho has been better than Mane and Firmino this season, imo.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you as they’re receiving a massively inflated fee and if invested wisely they could come out of it well but Coutinho is their best creator, imo, and they’re losing him. Replacing him won’t be easy.

Mahrez, for example, is a good player but not as good as this seasons Coutinho. Lamar could be good buy but I’ve only seen him play a few times and you always take a slight risk buying players with no prem experience.

L’Equipe saying that they’ve opened talks with Leicester for Mahrez. Interesting as both him and Salah play off the right.
Fuck's sake. It would be downright immoral if they were to add Mahrez to their attacking department.

Looking for the silver lining, maybe it would mean Salah heading to Madrid. :blackeye:
