So, let me get this straight, we scored two goals at Anfield and only lost the game thanks to two defensive clusterfecks thanks to Daniel Levy's transfer policy?
Does not compute

Oh, and just for the record, I don't think I have seen the Let's all laugh at threads for just about every other club, just the Liverpool one...might be amusing, could you give me directions, please?

all the idiots saying "knee jerk".. how is it? we're gonna throw away finishing above arsenal AGAIN!
As a confirmed idiot I feel compelled to try and enlighten you ;)

Because after a couple of bad results people are now proclaiming that the end is nigh, the season is all but over and we're going to go into freefall yet again.

And if we do finish above them, all those who are saying it's all over will be cartwheeling, woohoo-ing and celebrating the loudest, conveniently forgetting that when the going got tough they were the first to whinge and moan that we've fucked it up yet again. And the worst of that is that some will never fucking learn from it. At some point in the future, the minute things don't go our way again they'll revert back to type and whinge like mad, going over the top with it all. There's no balance to it, it's just 'we've fucked it up' and that's it when as it stands, we blatantly haven't.

I'm as worried as anyone that we might let it all go again and as i've said elsewhere, given what happened last season, that's understandable, but we haven't done it yet and judgement/whinging/wrist slashing/scapegoating should be reserved until the fat lady has belted out the last note.

And THAT'S why it's knee jerk. Them's me onions anyway.

Fuck being next to any of that lot in the trenches.

I believe I have seen such threads for Liverpool, Chelsea, arsenal, west ham, maybe even city. What started off as a thread that might just get people seeing the funny side of what us as a club generally do which is often fuck things up and end in glorious failure, has turned into a thread of people calling anyone that actually sees the thread for what it is, a massive ****.

I have been and always will be proud to be a spurs fan, and wouldn't want to support anyone else. The highs and lows are what makes football the game it is and the lows are what make the highs so glorious. We all get frustrated but the general theme is we should learn to laugh at ourselves and not just others.

When we lost to Grimsby, Leicester, city after being 3-0 up, united ditto, 7-1 at Newcastle and that list goes on, rather than getting mad, sigh and then let out a half hearted chuckle and whilst shaking your fist just say "ooooooh you bloody buggers" instead of the domestic violence that if this thread is anything to go by, is a certainty to follow for some

Do you think those that dont get it ever will?

Sadly, no. They will continue to be angry at life. Somehow it seems I have made a thread suggesting we are the worst team in the entire world...

I am current with the Liverpool thread. I have no knowledge of any other thread about any other club (though if you find one and I have participated in it, I shall be taking the fifth (y)).

I don't really see how us losing a couple of games, but still being 4th and in the QF of a major European competition equates with Liverpool's situation, however. I am not against your general sentiment, it is just that I feel the laugh at Liverpool thread is quite pertinent. Why? Because before Liverpool dropped so dramatically, I was, basically, explaining why it was very likely - and getting ridicule, at least on here, and lots of patronisation and abuse from Scousers in the real World (and cyber-land). And even now, in their fourth season of being below us, with no new stadium and no plans for a new stadium, an inferior youth policy and youth product, an inferior training centre, and a squad that minus Suarez, Carragher and Gerard would be nowhere (with Carragher retiring, Gerard on the downward slope and the chances of them keeping Suarez being less than us keeping Bale - which doesn't stop them laughing at us and saying we will sink like a stone once Bale rightfully leaves for a real club), they still persist in believing we are shite and just a bit lucky and they will soon reclaim their rightful place and mount a title challenge. I have read comments from them saying we are a one man team, they are not a one man team, we don't have any World Class players and they have two - which does kinda beggar the question of how come we keep on finishing above them, and will do so again this season. They also persist in portraying Bale as being far worse than Suarez despite the fact that all Bale has ever done is fall a bit theatrically under ridiculous challenges while travelling at great speed, whereas Suarez throws himself over at the drop of a hat under nothing challenges while virtually standing still, not to mention his persistent stamping and racially abusing an opponent. Not for losing the occasional game, but for being delusional and rather nasty when it is evident that there team is nowhere near what they think it is, haven't spent years looking down on us, being patronising, and ridiculing us, I see no problems with having a bit of a laugh at them.

Like I said, I don't know of any threads laughing at other clubs, but have seen threads on other clubs fan sites laughing at us. There are also lots of examples of posts from same pouring absolute spite and bile at us, when all we have done is be a well-run club, whereas Citeh and Chelsea get off relatively scot-free. I think there have been some threads criticising Cheslea/Citeh for ruining the game and for being classless. But that is a different story.

Like I said, I would agree with your general sentiment, but the Liverpool thread is not about them losing a game or two, and I feel it is quite well earned (y)

i understand that this was meant to be a thread to let off a bit of steam but to be fair you could have left it a little less open to interpretation. people are not hard to understand (most of them anyway). if you had made it a bit more clear what your intentions were i don't think as many people would have expressed so much indignation. anyway its over now and i'm guessing everyone's back to normal. this football thing works in funny ways huh?

One things for sure we deserved to be laughed at for giving Ade the contract he's on, just as much as we laugh at Liverpool for some of their Commoli era signings, not that we should laugh really, we got burnt by Commoli as well

Was that the one that gave rise to the classic line in commentary: And it's Ramon Vega, a genuine goal threat...at both ends? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: :barefoot:

Agree ...... it's almost as dumb as you using a single result to defend a monumental transfer window fuck up

Er, I think if you look closely at the post you quoted I didn't actually defend the transfer window; I certainly wouldn't try to defend a monumental transfer window fuck up; and I most definitely, emphatically and with absolute certainty did not try to defend any transfer window (monumental fuck up or no), based on one single result

I merely pointed out that it is confusing to blame either a lack of goals when we scored two at Anfield (hell, I can remember when we used to pray for a 0 - 0), or the conceding of two goals due to defensive cluster-fecks, on failure to buy a striker (presumably, that is what you are talking about). That just, bluntly, doesn't make sense (it was you, however, who introduced the term <DUMB> into the conversation (y)
But while we are on the subject, I would be using the fact (yes, that's a FACT, and not a hysterical reaction to something not going as well as I want, want, want it to (y)), that we are 4th and in the QF of a major European competition, as being evidence that while some of our transfer business, or lack of, was a bit disappointing, I would hardly categorise it as a monumental transfer window fuck up. That is an emotive, and hardly rational, term you are attempting to impose upon it - primarily, a long time after the event, because of a disappointing result.

Get a grip, FFS :coffee:

Maybe this is where the confusion arose. It was in no way meant to be as literal as the Liverpool thread. As many have said, we really are a great team and in comparison, on the up compared to many, regardless of where we finish this season. Spurs, like many of us know, is a rollercoaster that you just have to enjoy. There will be moments you love and moments you hate but thats all part of the package and why we love it so much

Ramon really earned his cult status - he was properly limited but I always feared he was going to rupture his little goolies he tried so hard. Proper loves the club, too, like Freund :)

I don't (and most spurs supporters i would say) give a rats arse about Europa if it costs us top 4 - avb needs to get this in his fucking head
That might be but if we cannot cope with EL we wont with CL so this is actually good learning wise on how to cope with amount of matches.

Its actually quite sad that a 4th place and group play in CL means more then a potential EL trophy. From an economic point it obviously do but seriously, would you be happy with a 3-4th place and group play of cl (potential quarterfinal) every season? UEFA should do 2 things to amend this serious problem:

#1 - Not let CL rejects into EL
#2 - Divide the money more equally between the 2 competitions

I am not saying it should be equal, of course playing in the CL should mean more but the way its setup now it only makes the gap between the CL clubs and EL clubs bigger.

Of course I would love for us to make top 4 and play CL next season but if I had the choice between 4th and 5th including the EL trophy I know which one I would chose.
