The problem isn't whether this decision was right or wrong, it's that the rule is interpreted slightly differently by ever referee/linesman.

There are not disagreements on interpretations here. Every referee and assistant referee in the Premier League would say that Kane is not offside because Lovern deliberately played the ball (and it was not an attempt to make a save). They've all received the same instruction from FIFA/IFAB and UEFA. This exact type of situation has been pounded into my head by the US referee program (as instructed by FIFA/IFAB) over the past couple years. 100% not offside.

Tbh if we score the first pen, we win that! Nonetheless, a draw was the best i expected. Glad Kane shut a few in here up by getting the second on point!

I agree as I think that it might probably have deflated their players.

Sorry guys I don't know where to find them, if my memory serves me well it was when he was playing for Basel before going to Chelsea, about the time he refused to shake hands with Israeli players in the Champions League game.
Let me make it plain, I wasn't accusing him of antisemitism just responding to a post that refered to us being able to buy him but didn't so I was giving another angle as to why that might be so, he was young and maybe felt a certain expectation on him due to his background, I don't know.

No worries, I've heard other people mention it, but never seen the quotes and I can't find them myself. One thing I did find out was that he was apparently being pressured into not shaking hands by people in Egypt, some of whom were described as extremists. Obviously it could just be an excuse though.

Maccabi Tel Aviv in a CL qualifier. Didn't shake hands with their players in either leg. Once you could probably make an excuse for it. Twice is just a bit too much of a coincidence.

He did a fist bump instead of shaking hands in the second match. Not sure what he was trying to say with that.

Back on topic.... I bet Klopps glad he sorted that defence out in the last window.

Don't really get why the first pen is a sticking point for the Liverpool fans either, as the Liverpool-players clearly felt aggrieved and that it wasn't a penalty. Then Karius saves the pen and immediately the Liverpool players looked fired up. I would say that the penalty miss was maybe the catalyst for their 2-1 goal.

Any argument about the second penalty is just silly. Stonewall penalty. As for the result as a whole we were the better team and deserved all three points even if we only got the one in the end.

Just checked the score and it really was 2-2.
Amazing
Pleased we didn't lose it.
Feel we should have won it.

Sloppy defending; two penalties, one missed; screamer by a sub.

And that's just us.

After he'd been criticised for not shaking hands in the first leg. If he didn't have a problem with it you'd think he'd just get on with it and shake their hands in the second leg...

Yes it hit lovren, but Kane was off side when the ball was first played

A player isn't offside when the ball is played...but if/when he receives it. If you think back to that wonderful moment a young Harry Kane hoofed the ball into the stands at Old Trafford, deliberately wasting time and aiding us to our win - everyone knew what he was going to do, but the ref couldn't blow for it until he had touched the ball. No touch ball, no offside. He also gobbed a stream that went straight down his shirt :) It was exactly the same here - Kane couldn't be given offside unless/until he touched the ball. What is complicating the matter for some is that the ball hit not one but two Liverpool players. Technically, you can't be offside if an opposition player plays the ball last. So, deflections or no, an ambiguous official ruling or no, by the laws of the game he was no longer classed as offside when he received the ball. That was what Moss and his assistant were discussing. You can here it clearly. Moss gives the pen immediately. His assistant then draws attention to the fact that Kane was technically offside when the ball was played. They then have a discussion where (I believe but this bit wasn't clear) Moss says the ball hit off a Liverpool player last, and the assistant says several times "if it's come off Lovren, he's not offside, if it hasn't come off Lovren, he's offside." Eriksen is standing there and you hear him say "It comes off him". Moss is obviously clear that the ball hits at least one Liverpool player before going to Kane, meaning he wasn't offside and therefore the foul on him is relevant, and he says "I'm giving the penalty."

It is all very well being as objective as possible, but when you are arguing that your side shouldn't have had a penalty when according to the rules of the game they should, you need to have a word with yourself :)

I don't think we were even that bad in the first half, we were just a bit flat and error prone at the back, but we did make a few good attacks and they didn't actually make that many openings in that half. But yeh we definitely second best, against a very good team it must be said, in that half.

We took control in the second half, but we still lacked a little bit of zest and made some poor decisions in the final third.

I thought we were far more dominant in the second half than Liverpool in the first, in fact I thought the first half was pretty even, just a very sloppy opening few minutes and Sanchez's nervousness made us wobbly at the back at times.

Second half was as good a performance at a big away ground that I've seen for a long time. Better balls from our full backs and we could of hammered them.

We deserved the win, but it was massively important we didn't lose, and I believe that late equaliser is going to prove extremely significant come the end of the season.

I thought it was funny when the Ref was talking to the linesman about the first penalty and said if he touched it, it was a penalty, Eriksen said he touched it, Emre Can said he didn't, with a proper, serious face on too and Eriksen laughed at him.

Couldn't stand him as a player but think he's the best pundit out there now - Nevilles take on it all

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11237161/neville8217s-big-match-verdict

I thought quite a few of his comments during the match were off-target, but that post-match review is point-perfect. I especially liked this paragraph:

... as it came to Wanyama I was thinking: 'No, don't shoot, you're just going to sky it into the Kop.' He hit the most wonderful strike. It was perfect, top corner, and one that he'll remember for the rest of his life.

I think we were all thinking the same.

And this paragraph says a lot about how canny people in football now think about our One Season Wonder:

I said straight away: 'Will Kane take it?', but I shouldn't have really asked the question, it's obvious, a man of his stature, responsibility, he was always going to step up.

I thought Eriksen played a blinder there.

Would have taken a point before the game.
Would’ve definitely taken a point at half time.
When Wanyama scored thought we could go on and win it. Liverpool were on their knees and there for the taking.
Absolutely gutted when Kane missed penalty to win us the game.
Fuming/angry when Salah scores, thought we’d lost.
Ecstatic/relieved when Kane scored equaliser.
Overall happy, relieved and abit gutted.(y)

Can i just say something about the first penalty decision that i think nobody has really picked up on. Ive looked again and again and i feel sky and most others have potentially missed it.

It is my belief that that the forward pass that alli makes actually takes 2 deflections. Its is hard to pick up on most angles but it first comes off the player that is directly trying to tackle dele. Deles pass is actually to lamela but is deflected into harrys path. Now why are they all talking about lovrens mistake touch as though it is the one that counts? The ball came off the pool player next to alli and then another (lovren) before harry is even in play.

Yes it hit lovren, but Kane was off side when the ball was first played
As both the officials and the Sky referee stated, if the ball hadn’t been touched by Loveren ( he actually went to hit it as opposed to it hitting him on the way to Kane) it stopped being offside. By the letter of the law it stopped being offside when Loveren took a wild swing at it.
