:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
There was a kid - 10-12 yo, who was walking the opposite way on the bridge, wearing an Arsenal kit - all the Spurs fans boo'd him mercilessly his entire way through the crowd.

Which I suppose was a nicer reception than he would have gotten at the Lane...

Was that Barron Trump? :D

I don't think we will finish above City...but I believe we have a good chance of it. But we see the current situation and the significance of last night's game very differently.

It may be the case that whoever finish above them will be champions, again, it is just that I believe that could be us. We have a chance. It isn't decided on who buys players the quickest or whose transfers look the most impressive on paper or who wins the most preseason games or who looks the best in preseason.

Personally, I think City's chances could well come down to just how much they have improved their defence - and as I have said, I didn't see them doing anything remarkable in that regard last night. As for ourselves, we'll have a good season if we do well in Wembley - so the Chelsea game is vital. That is when we will see what this squad, hopefully with a couple of additions, is made of IMHO.
Yes getting off to a good start at Wembley is vital for confidence I believe but additions I wouldn't hold your breath.

Fair enough. I predicted 4th last season so what do I know.

The strength in depth at Chelsea, Manu and City is intimidating. Liverpool also has a better squad than us imo. Not a better first XI I should add, neither do I think Manu has either.

I don't rate N'Koudo at all nor Sissoko. I prefer Josh out of those 3 tbh but who would realistically want him from the top 5 teams? I have hopes for him though. If Janssen comes good that will be a bonus. He's young enough and for me he has a decent technique. Unlike N'Koudo.

I just think that as usual, Levy mucking about with the transfer window and multiplying that with the Wembley factor will slow us down.

Klopp isn't an idiot manager. He will have learnt. Pep has the resources. Conte has the recourses and Mourihno has both the experience and the money.

So yes. Realistically you have to see us as 5th favourites as it stands.

That's a sensible reply and in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if we did due to others putting in some great depth/talent.

I see Salah being a real threat in pools potent attack.

I see City banging in many a many goals although their defense may still be a bit suspect. Their FB's have dramatically improved though, so that could change.

Mourinho sure will do better and Chelsea, well they haven't changed much but should still be very strong.

I see city winning it all this year with us challenging for top 4. I do see Lamela as a new signing. I see Son being a bit more productive. But I also wouldn't be surprised that one injury derails all our qualities. Who knows, but I will certainly be up in the early am and watching every game

It certainly looks as if the top three will be city, Utd and Chelsea depending on what order they finish, which leaves the rest of us battling it out for the last spot.
I still think that the last CL spot will be beyond us this year probably 6th is likely due to other factors like Wembley which we struggle to win at, possible poor transfer activity and too many inexperienced youngsters on the bench.
As long as we stay in the top six that would be good enough for me I can't expect more than that

lets think about newcastle first ...one game at a time, and for that matter the game at wembley saturday, at home, must win this one, get there confidence in check esp at wembley against one of europe's top clubs

Losing to juve at Wembley only gives the media more chance to heap the pressure on our record there, which they will do with glee.

The doom and gloom in this thread is pretty funny.Youd think we got hammered in all 3 games. We beat PSG and But for some ridiculous ref should have beat Roma.2 well established CL teams.City just thumped Real,I just think we got beat by a very very good team.Ill be sticking few cheeky quid on them to win CL.imagine they are a decent price .

Well it's up to us to win at Wembley when it actually matters and stuff their opinions up their ar*ses. The media will continue to do what they do regardless.

this is precisely done to make it as inconvenient as possible to cancel...

they charge you 13p per min, so they keep u hanging on say 45-50 min then your disconnected ...so they can cash in on your mobile bill , and your still hooked to them as you can only cancel by calling them
only way is cancel your debit card, get another one...that stops them dead

Come on, PSG we played pretty well but they were down to 10 men and lost their goalie for an entire half and one of their goals was a gift from their terrible keeper. Ref had a bad game against Roma but we weren't robbed - draw would have been fair result. City we were awful and could have lost 10-0 on another day.

Not to mention that in most games both sides have made tonnes of changes at half time. It was 2-2 when PSG lost their goalie/took off their best players. City and Roma were both 2-0 up when sides were arguably more on equal footing.

If we're going to make excuses, got to make them both ways. At best we've had one good, one bad, one so-so pre-season game.

Speaking to a mate today. He remembered us playing against our reserve side in a preseason friendly, we got soundly beaten. He thought we were in for a bad season.
We won our first 13 games and did the double that year.

Why do u think like this?

Honesty people never learn. I guarantee that u thought when United signed Ibrahimovic, Pogba etc that we'd be nowhere near them.

Why do people continue to underestimate the importance of stability and continuity?

Yes we want to add some quality to improve our depth but we have to be patient.

I accept playing at Wembley will make things harder this season, but we're a very strong team and writing us off to not finish in the top 3, given we've done so two seasons running and are now a more experienced group of players, is fucking crazy imo.

I have said on many occasions that I like many others have been happy with the last couple of years and why not two top 3 finishes.
But while our achievements are fantastic considering our finances in those two years city and Utd were stumbling some what trying to rebuild and go again, well now they look like they mean business again which makes our task harder.
If we finish 4th then great but if we finish 6th which I have suggested we might I also am fine with that, again up against not a level playing field it might be the best we can do.
Just because I have said what I think may happen doesn't make me negative if that's what your thinking, I'm more leaning on the side of realism rather than get carried away.

Did United not mean business when they signed Ibrahimovic and Pogba for 90 odd million, and another 30 on the Dortmund bloke?

Honestly don't think any of top 6 apart from City have improved their 1st xi at all.If anything you could argue Chelsea are weaker.United replacing Lukaku for ibra is s downgrade imo.Salah at pool nothing special same for lacazette.City however will be transformed just by a decent keeper alone. If things stay more or less like this and we can add 2 or 3 quality I'd say we can fight for 2nd again.city will walk it.

Aye and we battered everyone including Roma the pre season before 2 points from 8 games didn't we?

I'm fully supportive of pre season meaning sod all.

Agreed and yet some think we are going to finish above them staggering, finish above these and your champions which won't be the case.

Still the whole season to go though. I know they look much better equipped than last season but they only ended up looking poorly equipped due to their results, there won't loads of people saying so prior to the season starting. People have said the same thing for the last 2 seasons and it's only during the season after realising they're not performing as expected and after the seasons have finished that they start to give reasons and explanations as to why. That goes for City and United.

Let's at least wait a few months into the season before declaring who it looks like we may finish above or below.

Yes they did one of whom is now surplus to requirements but I don't remember ever saying anything regarding Utd last year.
Only this time I have mentioned them because they look a bit better than last year, the pressure is on them isn't it their outlay suggests they have to do something otherwise the manager could get sacked for failure.
Poch has not such worries does he if top four is not achieved he will still be here next year unless he has enough and decides to leave.
He has more room to make mistakes and grow compared to the others who need and demand to win stuff, we on the other hand are not in that position thankfully.

Taking into account that Poch seem's to prefer playing 3-4-2-1 if he has everyone available, then surely going into a season with only Wimmer as cover for Dier, Vert's, Alderweireld and Wanyama is pushing our luck ! even putting CCV (perhaps not ready yet) in the equation still leaves us short. You could say that we are 2 short to cover them four so seems strange that we haven't been linked with anyone who could slot straight into the team.
