To ALL those who said C Ronaldo is the BEST player on Earth (on my thread in this section) and is even better than Zidane was and oh surely better than Messi.
Hope you learned your football lessons tonight. Messi is far superior in ALL categories, his touch, skill, speed, movement, he's simply beautiful to watch, and he motivates a team like sissy boy Ronaldo could only dremam of!

Also, to those who said I'm 'jealous', PAH! C Ronaldo is an excellent player, but Messi is on a different level entirely.

It's actually the opposite.

barcelona had the chances but are like arsenal, they want to pass the ball into the net instead of attempting a shot on goal once in a while.

Agree with all you've said. Barca ripped Man Utd to shreds (got in their box on numerous occasions) but hardly got any shots in.

I must have been watching a completely different game. Barca did virtually nothing to impress me in the final third. They may have had the chance to break through some times, but they sure as hell didn't take them.

Messi was better in this game, but I expect Ronaldo to shine in the home leg.

Messi had more of a chance to look good, with his team at home and playing the more attacking football.

To say a single game determines which is the better player is a tad daft imo.

anything but a good team but still in the semi's of the champions league and toying with the so called best team in the world.

barcelona are still 3rd in the league and are focussing more on the champion's league. frank rijkaard has already won 2 la liga's so they're probably less motivated when it comes to playing teams like levante and real murcia.

and where was the so called best player in the world ronaldo?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's the way you tell them.

Real have been doing their level best to blow the title, and Barca have been unable to stir themselves against the small fry to take advantage of this. Seven points from their last six games, and three of those against the might of Valladolid.

As Sid Lowe put it in his La Liga blog in the Guardian the other week, Recreativo 2, Samuel Eto'o 2.

No wonder the Spanish press are in despair about what's happening to their league.

Barca killed that one. The game got off to a good start, then they got the ball and sat on it. And given the amount of possession they did have, at home, it's nothing less than a failure on their behalf (not to take away anything from Man U's defending, though).

They "toyed" with Man U?

Must say that I love watching Iniesta and I thought he was fantastic, tonight he was equally as good on the left, right and centre of midfield - why can't we get midfielders as good as this lad!

Barca had 60+ % of possession last night, but htye done fuck all with it.
Apart from a few long shots and one decent attempt (eto), which incidently was about as decent as Carricks attempt.

Man Utd, didn't play that well, but neither did Barca. They didn't toy with Utd, it was a pretty boring game. Although I did see a quote in the paper that it was a classic 0-0, it was boring, hardly any attempts from either team.

As for the difference in Ronaldo and Messi, both are unreal, Barca had more possession, much more, so Ronaldo didn't get on the ball that much, and to be honest, he had a few decisions go against him last night, at least two that could have been given penalties and being shoved in the back when going for headers, so every right to comlain, but very frustrating for him.

Suppose the next two games are both huge for Chelsea and Utd now, expect a draw at the weekend and both Chelsea and Utd to win at home and meet in the final.

Man Utd to win in Moscow.

Deselina you are clueless if you reckon that was some of the best football in the world. Thjey just had a lot of posession in Midfield and did fuck all with it.

Toure was excellent, but the rest of them were pretty average. United are a better team than Barca and will prove it next week.

Your bias towards teams with Dutch managers is frightening too.

Barcelona were at home and they pretty much did nothing to trouble a poor United for the whole game.

Yes, Barca were a bit of a let-down, weren't they?

Barca are basically my second team in football, but i love watching Man Yoo atm. Barca are at the end of a cycle, with players such as Ronaldinho and Deco heading for the exit door. For all Barca's possession like all their football this season they did not creat enough chances and Man Yoo did a great job of nullifying their style of play. Messi had played one half of football before last night and he was the best on the pitch. The OT game requires an early goal then i reckon it will be a cracker!

Regardless of their performance last night, I can still see Barca progressing to the final. Although their attack was pretty ineffectual, crucially, they prevented Man Utd from getting an away goal. Man Utd will have to come at them in the second leg and although I can't see Barca keeping a clean sheet, I'll think they'll do enough to earn a score draw. Shame that whoever goes through will come up against the negativity of Chelsea or Liverpool.
