The gaps between the players are absolutely fucking huge! I’d be nervous if everytime I got the ball I looked up, am closed down by 2-3 players and my only option is a 20-30 yard pass ?

Players not good enough but tactics from the previous 3 managers focusing on such a lack of possession and huge distances between players in possession doesn’t help at all unfortunately.
It’s the formation. Wingbacks won’t work with this team and players 433 is the way to go.

Cannot wait until the World Cup. Genuinely feel nothing about this game and this team at the moment, Spurs are giving us nothing, why should we care?

I’m watching in the hope the Gil comes on and I get to see a glimmer of hope.
Same. You bet the World Cup will see the same players shining and giving their all. Kane for sure won't be walking in any of the England games.

They were good enough to get us into the top 4 whilst playing excellent football. This drop off is inexcusable.
Mate have you watched us the last 4/5 seasons? They players we had perked up and played for a couple months as they do with a new manager. They then revert to type, it’s happened multiple times. Until they are shipped out we are going to be the same. Half our squad are mid table premier league players. We have been carried by Son and Kane for seasons.

Too afraid. Afraid of Mourinho, afraid of Conte, when these managers go too tough they are too afraid to make mistakes, they will take the safe route. Then the leaders on field take no responsibility. Yet when we have soft managers like Poch, the players may be soft and no fire. The problem keep coming from the players after all.
What the fck are you on about. Utter drivel- both on the field and on here.

Players take time to integrate and the others are not good enough.
We do have some average players but this has to be the result of instruction from the coaching team.
The fact we so obviously change philosophy after going behind shows this.
Maybe if we had peak Carlos, Maldini, Nesta, Cafu, whoever else you want to list we could defend for 70% of the game.
But in the CL/Prem any opponent are capable of scoring.
it doesn’t make any sense to play like this.

It is shocking how terrible we are in first halves and I don't understand how Conte isn't addressing it. We can only hope for a turn around here, but it is not sustainable to keep digging such deep holes for ourselves by not showing up and then chasing a game. You can't just turn it off and on like that. We have regressed badly since last season despite making some good additions.

Ten times more passes in the final third from marseille. We have had ZERO touches in their box. Madness!

Evidence from atleast since Poch went shows that we aren't good enough in these types of games and that we were always going to be knocked out.

Agree about the talent being more than Marseille's. But this mentality issue runs through the club and into the fan base (myself included)

We've never been the same since Dembele left.

How does a managerial genius play 2 bloody left backs at right wing back over the hottest right-wingback in English football less than a year ago???? Whats to say? Go out, defend with the team par the plan and tear them a new one going forward! Hate when managers have a stubborn prove them wrong psyche.

I know that the execution of the tactics are poor. But his track record is still exceptional- until now.

we don’t have mentality monsters. We have mentality munchkins
His track record is exceptional… which is why he gets more rope than Nuno. But you’re still making excuses. He should be able to do better with the players he has. The fact that we play better in the second half tells you the set up is consistently wrong

I don't have too much of a problem with a low block as long as you can spring yourself out of it effectively and create chances on the counter - but 80% of the time it doesn't happen. Feels like so many games this season. Sit deep, defend OK enough, give the ball away as soon as we get it, get boxed in, rinse and repeat.
Absolutely, compounded by the fact that Son and Moura can’t actually complete a pass.

Really disappointing again.
