Hutton 6 and MOTM for trying.

Everybody else 4 for total lack of attitude, for unprofessionalism and lethargy.

Everyone deserved about a 4 apart from Hutton who gets a 7. He was the only player even trying and was playing as a right back AND right midfielder because no one wanted to help him. Only one passing, only one moving, only one trying.

We were dogshite. I still think i saw a different match to most. Zokora was our best player in the 1st half, regularly making the runs that TSH says he doesn't do any more and spraying the ball about excellently. He was average to poor in the 2nd half, as was everyone.

Hutton and Dawson played well today, Daws made a few thumping challenges.

Huddlestone had his worst game for us and bottled about 5 challenges. Keane should've probably stayed on but Bent had scored and Berby can always change the game in a second, coupled with the fact we had to go back to a 4-4-2, i can see why Keano came off.

Taarabt was poor, Woody was poor, O'Hara was average, Steed's work rate was top as usual but the cross for the goal aside, his forward play was poor, Berby was average, Bent scored a great goal but very average overall.

Oh well. We were shit but i can't see us playing like that too many times again under Ramos. He's still experimenting for next season and this will help him loads.....

Edit: Forgot Robbo. Couldn't do anything about the last 2 goals and made 2 outstanding saves, but just not good enough for the 1st 2 goals.

Hutton was my motm and the only player who played above average, to see so many of our players bomb out on mass like that was gutting. Just like to add that the support was just as bad as the players, what is happening to us? Yes the players were having a collective shocker but we never tried to gee em up and it was very disappointing to see so many walking early and yet they're the first to give it if the away support fook off.

Bad day all round, but we'll come back for more cause it's what we do.

I'm afraid Ramos's team and tactics contributed heavily toards us losing, and playing badly today. I assume he decide on 433 to match up Newcastl's formation. Big mistake. Huddlestone struggles to cope in a midfield 4 let alone a 3. Berbatov is not a No10. He's nowhere near busy enough. I have no idea what thought process decides Ohara is better at LB than Lee, Gilberto, Chimbonda (or even Birchichie). And as much as Keanes faggoty jump out of the way of a tackle annoyed the shit out of me I am still amazed he went off and not the woefully one dimensional Bent. And what thepoint of tainio for Zokora was I have no idea. Zokora almost certainly would have defended Martins better than Tainio did. A very bad day at the office all round - in fact probably the worst performance we've put in all season. Slaggings...I mean ratings:

Robinson 5 - A couple of really good saves but absolouely piss poor for the free kick, which was the turning point of the game. (I'll have to watch on TV but I felt the Butt goal was a bi soft as well)

Hutton 6 - ok

Dawson 5 - A couple of good tackles but was clumsy as well.

Woodgate 5 - Poor today.

O'Hara 4 - mitigation is that he s not a LB. We've seen him struggle there before. Big blunder by Ramos.

Huddlestone 4 - Dire game. But again I have to question why a player that doesn't have the mobility and mental dexterity to cope in a 4 man midfield often was trusted in a 3.

Zokora 6 - I actually thought that until halfway through the second half he was easily our MOTM. He then made a couple of mistakes but was hardly the only one.

Malbranque 5 - worked hard as usual but his final ball continues to frustrate the hell out me. A couple of times he was in great postions and wasted them. But did put in a good cross for Bent and is playing out of position. Would like to have seen him on the right in a 4 today.

Berbatov 5 - first half orked hard, but faded badly secondhalf. Is not a No10 and never really influenced the game enough from that position.

Keane 5 - Thought he was lively today but that cowardly jump out of the way in the second half was embarrasing. he deserved being subbed for that alone if it weren't for the fact that Bent was on the pitch.

Bent 4 - Yes he took his header well. But I'm afraid it's all down hill from there. He is so limited technically I find it staggering that someone at our club deemed him worth 16 mil. His movement is unimaginative in normal "football" play (that is unless your chucking him a stick to chase, then he sets off like an eager whipit, and just like an eager whippet he's never to sure what to do with the stick when he catches it). Wasted 3 or four cracking positions just by being poor technically and one footed.

Taarabt 5 - don't be to hard on the fella. He was so eager to be involved when came on and constantly loked to get the ball and take it off the defense or the midfield. Hutton did exactly the same thing and got away with it. And Tainio didn't exactly help.

Lennon 2 - not much chance to impress. And didn't.

Pretty much agree, B-C. WTF Robbo was doing for the free kick I have no idea—but I have no idea how Dawson managed to get outjumped by Martins and then go into Brain Off Mode and needlessly knock him over, either. He (Robbo, that is) looked flat-footed for Butt's shot, but even if he'd reacted quicker I don't think he'd have got to it. You also have to ask what exactly was going on in front of him.

Really, no-one comes out of it with much credit. I only watched MOTD and that was probably enough, on reflection.

You are so lucky,I had to sit through the whole game and I never ever want to watch or be reminded of our second half performance!
I can only hope that it was part of our managers masterplan to show how badly we need 10 players instead of the 4 that the chairman imagined he would purchase this summer!

What worries me is that a year ago we were romping towards a record-equalling run-in with much the same squad.

I don't normally give ratings but am genuniely angry so thought I'd use this thread to hurl abuse at the useless plebs.

Robbo - 4 - Too easily beaten for Butt's goal and just amateurish for the free kick. Needs to go as soon as possible.

Hutton - 7 - Our best player by far. Looks like he'll be a massively important player for us.

Woodgate - 4 - Poor today. Been magnificent this season but had a disaster today.

Dawson - 4 - Perhaps marginally better than Woody today but still doesn't look comfortable at the top level.

O'Hara - 4 - Looked out of his depth today. Too slow to play full back and didn't offer much going forwards.

Malbranque - 5 - Good in the first half and did well for the goal. Woeful in the second half for some reasosn.

Hudd - 4 - Was he on the pitch? Looked massively out of place on the right of midfield...strange decision from Ramos.

Zokora - 3.5 - Awful. Can't pass, can't tackle very well and doesn't even make his 'driving' runs forward anymore. Needs to be dropped sharpish.

Bent - 5 - Did well for the goal and chased well. As ever he's very dependent on the midfield and as they were awful today he didn't get much joy.

Keane - 5 - Looked the most dangerous of our front players but in all fairness that wasn't hard. Shouldn't have been taken off.

Berba - 3.5 - I love him but he was pathetic today.

Subs:

Taarabt - 4.5 - Give him credit for trying to up the tempo and for a few good passes but ultimately he still doesn't have the footballing brain for the premiership yet. Comical for their 4th goal.

Lennon - 4 - Did nothing. Given little of the ball and never looked like creating anything.

Tainio - 5 - Roasted for the goal but shouldn't have been allowed to be there on his own anyway. Didn't do too much else wrong or right.

Ramos - 4 - Not sure why we suddenly changed our formation today and some very dubious substitutions left us with lennon, huddlestone and taarabt out of position. Probably his worst managerial performance since arriving unfortunately.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Very accurate, talkshowhost and I share your anger.

POTM for me, Chimbonda of course, he was smiling behind Juande and making some gestures to the fans, the best thing that could have happened to him not being a part of this joke.

I can only understand a woeful display like this and the atrocious managerial display on the base of some experimental tactical movements. It is unnecessary to state the result of the experiment...

At least Juande will have now a clearer picture about what he has in the squad. Player by player analysis of what I think Juande knows now of the players who participated in yesterday's circus show:

Robinson: He's gone. Juande's still trying to understand how an amateurish and clearly unfit shot-stopper (because he's not an all around goalkeeper) ended up in the same illustrious position as Gordon Banks or Peter Shilton.

Hutton: World class. He could have been a part of a Glentoran's (nothing personal against you, guys) side against Barcelona in the preliminary rounds of the UCL and still would have managed to become a threat to their defense. Strong, imposing, solid forward runs, teamworker, on his way to be on eof the best players in the world and hopefully a crucial part in our pursue of glory.

Dawson: Again, amateurish. I think Juande will probably offload him on a loan to some struggling team so he learns how not to be so clumsy and that his reckless challenges near the box can be crucially dangerous. In this particular aspect, his pushing of Viduka was sillier than Zokora's on Drogba on the Carling Cup final.

Woodgate: Being 2 of the back 4 nervous because of being played out of position (O'hara), or lacking confidence and in need to prove the gaffer a point (Dawson), Woody was meant to become the figure of composure and balance within the defensive line. At some points it seemed that it was him the one who needed more help at the back and it became evident that Hutton was the balanced and "paternal" figure. IMO he can be world class when partnering someone more experienced and influential at the back, but his leading and organizational capabilities are yet to mature. He will stay, of course, as he is very good, but Juande has now as a main objective the inclusion of a rock solid center back to his squad.

O'hara: Out of position, he's not a LB. He will have to be tested now in central and left midfield in order to show his real level. Personally, I believe Juande would love him to stay as he is homegrown, one of the few real lefties in the squad and might become useful as a "club" player, both for European selection as well as developing him into a Gerrard or Nolan kind of charismatic midfielder. Highly doubtful.

Steed: He will stay of course: has some technical conditions above the average of the squad (covering the ball, use of both legs, competent in every zone of midfield), but the drop of his level in the second half is just a reminder for Juande that he is not a world class midfielder that will take the team onto the next level. Not as a starter at least.

Hudd: Juande can't sleep at night thinking about him. He is clearly talented, might become a really good, powerful and technically gifted midfielder -the tempo dictator-, but his jogging/walking of the pitch yesterday only makes the Spaniard think about sending him on loan to Stoke City next season to gain some Premiership minutes and vital resiliency experience under a struggling team.

Zokora: That might be it for him. He has made important progress in the past couple of months, but his actual level is just not good enough for a team which wants to fight for UCL action or maybe even the Premiership. He is inconstant and has failed to provide a minimum standard of offensive support. Hopefully Juande will have his lesson learnt by now and won't bring in Alain Nkong.

Keane: He's good of course, he adds passion to the game and will be a historical club player.

Berbatov: The best player in the squad, a real world class player and the barometer of the squad's current level: if he's scoring 3 or 4 and happy and running and doing one-twos with everyone, then the team is performing as world class. If he's sloppy, disinterested and lazy as yesterday, it may mean that the rest of the team is crap. Hopefully we won't see many of this in the future and Juande will convince him to stay by building basically a half new team around him.

Bent: Slowly starting to justify his minutes and his permanency in the team. Not a very cerebral or intelligent player, but I don't care if he keeps on proving that he's a clinical finisher and that he has the net inside his head even if heading with his eyes closed...

Taarabt: Headless chicken indeed, as someone stated before. He's good, for a youngster, but will have to be sent on loan to a struggling Premiership team next season in order to get his minutes, because Juande won't risk losing more on him.

Lennon: Coming in the second half and penetrating tired defenses with his freshness and lightning pace might turn him into the best 12th player in the world. He will stay, but will not feature as a starter, which might make him search for new airs, coming a decent bid.

Tainio: He will have to show his real value in the final matches of the season and Juande will probably start him from now till the last match in order to observe this. A for now, he could be the player in Poulsen's mold and runs with a clear advantage over Zokora despite almost not playing.

Bring on for next week the ones of Kaboul, Gunter, Gilberto (fat or not who cares), Dervitte, Troy A-H, Mtandari, Rose, Rocha and Pekhart!!!

robbo- 1 Usual self made a ton of mistakes and we rely on his long ball too much.
hutton- 7 Only play to show any commitment.
dawson- 4 Shaky.
woodgate- 5 Needs to be put next to a real left back drag out of position to cover O'hara

O'hara- 1 Nothing to really say out of position all the time and should not take set pieces
Huddlestone- 1 A statue today immobile and passing was non-existant
Zokora- 1- over-eager and out of position like a 6 year old's positional sense hardly ever closes down a player and lost the ball too often.
Steed- 2 Was poor but not as bad the other twso it would have been unfair to have given him the same rating.
Keane/ Bent/ Berbatov- 4 Ended up relying on long ball system again for service but they didn't really create anything like keane and berbatov usually do for themselves.

Subs
Taarabt-1 Over eager wasteful in possession just run straight at the opposition and tries to trick them with his 2 billion step overs, this did not work for a great youngster like Ronaldo when he first came to the prem never going to work for an over-hyped second rate player.
Lennon-2 The rest of the midfield can't pass it to him when he is in good positions so by the time he usually gets the ball the opposition is usually able to deal with him
Taino- 4 Good positioning battled but no time to make a difference

Ramos- 2 4-3-3 was never going to work when it seems your midfield have the inability to play football must be hating commoli for the midfielders he bought into the club.

One bit of support for O'Hara, he had no help whatsoever. He has a good footballing brain, but has no pace. He wants to play football unlike players like Dawson who just seems hell bent on seeing how many 'hoofs' he can get away with.

O'Hara is being offered an improved contract, so that tells me Ramos likes him. He is versatile and could be a very valuable squad player.

Those that have given Malbranque a decent rating must have watched Match of the Day, cos he was very very poor - again!

IMO, 4 or 5 players are playing their final games in our shirt.
Malbranque
Lennon
Chimbonda
Robbo
Zokora (please)
Taraabt (Coco the Clown)

Zokora has to go. He's an athlete who just happens to play football a bit (although not much). Even Woodgate was awful yesterday.

I do not do the ratings very often, I will make an exeption for this performance.

Robbo 5
Hutton 6
Dawson 5
Woodgate 4
O'Hara 3
Malbranque 4
Zokora 3
Huddlestone 3
Berbatov 4
Keane 6
Bent 5
Taraabt 2
Lennon 2
Tainio 3

Ramos 3
Poor team selection and poor tactics. I cannot see how O'Hara can ever be a full back. Remember Chimbonda was on the bench. Or how Berby can play in midfield he just does not have the work rate for it. As far as Taraabt is concerned I do not blame him as much as he is still very raw. But we can all see he is nowhere near ready for the first team. Why bring on Lennon then stick him on the left where we all know he is not as effective. Strange day all round.

Hutton walks man of the match.

Zokora first half was everything I've wanted him to be. Zokora second half was everything he is, and ultimately slipped into his familiar shortcomings. Not good enough.

O'Hara woefully out of position. For a central midfielder that he wants to be, he's got to be annoyed that he's so heavily left footed and thus the temptation is great for him to be played in left-hand-side positions.

Steed was again everything he's been all season, and second half just didn't come out of the changing room. Strange.

Huddlestone is a tricky one - Juande has learnt today that he's not a right sided midfielder. Not being funny, Uno Especiale, but I could have told you that. Out of position and out of any meaningful contributions. Passable first half, though.

Bent and Keane were good. Keane's channel running was ridiculously missed - the wrong substitution. Berbatov was obviously purring over United's performance thinking he's going to be there next year - didn't impose himself in the playmaker role, nor when shoved up top later - should have been the one to make way.

Dawson and Woody looked like they'd only just met. Woody made some really strange errors, never recovered from when Newcastle hit the bar after his misplaced pass early on. Dawson is sluggish, and we know this but I thought he won a load of headers in the first half. Second half was comical for both.

Robbo - now I thought he could have done more for the first two goals. The pace of Butt's shot is ridiculous and he literally watched it roll in. The second goal was like a rewind to September with freekicks flying through walls everywhere. We've surely got to be the worst for conceding goals from set pieces. Comical wall creating, comical wall using and comical goalkeeper positioning. I wasn't, however, laughing at all.

Taarabt is everything I've said he is. Raw and in the need of a serious kick up the arse. Granted he was the only one showing for the ball, and that takes nads and he actually placed a few passes too. But the 4th goal will teach him the biggest lesson of all. You can't really describe it more than that can you? Loses possession by trying a trick when passes were on ---> goal.

Lennon - was he actually playing? He made two runs that I can remember. The rest of the time marooned out on the left. What's happened to Azza? :-(

Ramos was obviously having a bit of a funny half hour when he chose that line-up, and then had a repeat episode when he brought on NoPass and Lennon. Strange game.

We were average first half, and I thought TwoHalfTottenham would come out all guns blazing second half. But apparently, I was misinformed, and it was our first half that was our good half. :-?
