I don't think we were ever going to at Burnley and to be honest Leeds turned into an even more important game for multiple reasons after Conte's outburst and the midweek loss so I respect that it was really pivotal to get a positive feeling back in the club and we should have gone as strong as possible in both.

I'm not mad at going strong in the league considering what we are fighting for and Conte will have faith in whatever he has planned for this game, whether it's to go as strong as he has in the league or to make a few changes. I'm not going to criticise before anything has happened or been decided.

Truth is though, I think our squad and the injuries we have allow us to only change so much.
Yep agreed, we see what happens. But for sure my toys go out of the pram, twice ?, if we play a weakened team at Boro and lose.
I already don't care whether Conte stays or goes. Another trophyless season and he just becomes another manager.

Middlesbrough have put together a lengthy sequence of seasons in the Championship where they had an extremely miserly defence, but missed out on the playoffs and/or promotion because they couldn't score enough goals.

I haven't seen them play in the past year, but I imagine they still play with a deep defensive line and try to clog up the area on the edge of the penalty box, since that's the usual approach from defensively-minded teams in the lower divisions.

That would make them a challenge quite like Burnley. The question then becomes: can we take advantage of our superior fitness and skill levels to retain midfield possession and craft goals against a low-block opponent in the way we couldn't against Burnley?

It's the same question, irrespective of how much we rotate and who plays.

I think Conte is pivotal to us going forward so hopefully he stays.
Yes I agree that we are on for another trophy less season but then it's groundhog Day on that score.
I think Middlesbrough will give us a right old game and tough time of it they have already beaten both utd and arsenal something that we have not been able to do.

Well, it didn't seem like we picked up any new injuries. I doubt Skipp or Bentancur will be available. Same team except Reggie in for me.
Sess has promise, but worries me defensively

Sessegnon worries you defensively but Reguilon doesn't?

Gotta say I don't understand that one, SW. The defensive side of Reguilons game is his weakest part, in my opinion.

Whereas it's probably Sessegnons strongest part, and his attacking play will hopefully get better as he gains more confidence.

And then we complain about the players mentality...
Quite.

The catastrophising on here really puzzles me. It's not just "we missed out on a player we wanted", it's "Conte is going to walk". It's not just "an important game", it's "the end of the season if we lose". And if the manager makes some team selections we personally disagree with, it becomes "I don't care if Conte stays or goes". I really don't get it. It must be miserable to go through life like that, not just for you, but for the people around you.

And before anyone says it, yes, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion :D.

Anyone know why Lucas wasn't on the bench Saturday? I read he stormed off at the final whistle against Burnley but not sure if there's been a falling out. he scored against Boro last time at their place.

I don't want us to fully rotate here, if we do that then we will lose.

We don't play Everton until Monday night so we have a good amount of rest period so for that reason I think Conte will largely play a strong team, try and get a comfortable lead and hopefully get Kane off after 60-70 mins.

Reguilon should come back in. Assuming that Sess has played the last 3 to give him a run and allow Reguilon a chance to recover after Covid.

Doherty should start after a really good game vs Leeds. He needs to build his confidence.

Would be ok with Rodon or Sanchez coming in for Romero to allow him to rest. Otherwise just keep the same side and try to build some momentum.

Need to go strong to progress but players like Moura Bergwijn Sanchez Rodon should still be a level above the championship and one of the few opportunities for minutes
Every time we have rotated with the weaker players we have lost even against FC Mura.
So no rotaton for me. FA cup only thing really keeping our season alive sadly and a faint chance of top 4.

Last away game of a tough little run, go full strength then we have plenty of rest before the Everton game.

Our last chance of a trophy this season, I'd take this over top 4 if offered to me. Also Arsenal and United being out really does make it a bit easier to go deep with a kind draw.

I think the issue regarding rotation is not Monday's match but only have 3 days to recover from Saturday after a busy previous week. I would play our strongest team available with availability based on recovery. While I definitely want us to win this, do not want to put any of our players at risk due to "an accumulation of fatigue" type of injury. Conte should still be able to start at least 7 of our 1st considering that.

Certainly don’t see this as anything but tricky … watching Boro the other week I felt that they can play very well as a unit. Naturally I watched their RwB a lot.. and he does look good. Looking forward to seeing our team again… I’d like to think we’ll go with the strongest line up

that's a bit of a reach, given you haven't seen them play under Wilder. He has a slightly different rep compared to Pulis and Warnock!

Sess pocketed Salah when we played Liverpool and also did really well defensively against City.

It’s actually the attacking part of his game which he needs to work on IMO.

boro players will be so energized and up for it after beating united, the players need to match effort or we'll loose. cant stroll up and hope superior ability will get the win.
you'd hope after burnley they'd have gotten that down now
