Dele looks so impressive, he will start many games this year in the league, I'm surprised there isn't more hype.

MLS' second goal was created by two unintentional touches.

Should still score more than 1 against that level of talent.

Despite that, promising signs for what feels like our first "real" preseason match.
Another night, Kane would have put away the 3 easy ones and missed the long range one, only the first proper friendly

Overall, the lack of competitive football is painfully obvious. Vertonghen and Alderweireld are a ways away from a partnership at this point, they're far too similar with their positioning. Dier is not a holding midfielder. We need a Lambert type to get on the end of crosses if we're going to play like we did in the second half.

Some of the kids look promising, but next week is vital. Both on the field in the last few friendlies and in terms of adding to the squad.

How did Dier play today?

From the starting lineup it looked like he lined up in midfield.

Yedlin didn't do much but he was very much shoehorned into that role on the right. Never looked right with Trippier next to him.

I'd like him to be given a shot in the next couple of games at RB to see if can do a better job than Walker.

Trippier and Alderweireld looked great to me. Really happy with those signings. Carroll will be sold and I thought Yedlin was piss poor.

No there very much is. Mostly because of the fact that the US is a new market being expanded into by the club so everyone will automatically scream marketing signing and be overly critical of that player. Being masked because, to be fair, Yedlin isnt some great first team player. But he doesnt deserve much of the criticism he gets. He needs time. He's a young player and improving in the little amount of time he's been at the club.

The reason people are saying that is because he was signed in january yet is still to play a competitive game for us.

What a threatening player we have in Dele - would like to see him against RM. Tripper very solid player and a brilliant crosser.

Trippier, Wimmer, Carroll, Onomah all impressed me.

Kane and Dembele did well in the first half. Didnt notice Eriksen or Bentaleb too much. Chadli wasn't great. Dier is not a midfielder and should not be played there. Walker was poor defensively. Toby was meh.

People are sceptical of the motives behind signing him and you cant argue with that after signings like Khumalo and the comments from Donna Cullen.

Theres also been ITK that Yedlin's been unimpressive in training, which again doesnt help.

No-one's anti Yedlin. No-ones anti signing American players, as long as theyre good enough.

I honestly havent seen much criticism of him either, certainly no more than any other player. You're just too protective IMO.

I thought Toby looked great. Very composed. He fills me with confidence personally.

I can imagine Yedlin slowly becoming a Soldado Ver 2.0 in this forum with all bad reps going to him, being know what, as a young chap settling in a foreign place plying his trade..

dare those same people to work in a country across the other end of an ocean and tell me you make it in less than half a year, at age of 22

I was nodding my head the whole time until you got to Toby. I thought he was very good. Looked good at the back and played some really nice long passes. He was better than Vertonghen.

EDIT: Bentaleb was better than you're giving him credit for as well.
