Being reported it's only £24m. If we didn't at least match that we're a bunch of mongs. I know the youth coming through is top notch but we really need top player at the prime in the middle if we're going to play 4-2-3-1

Even if we matched it, he would have gone to Utd.

Thing is, it's not about matching or even topping the top bid, as we well know with Southampton gunning for Toby far too late in negotiations. It's player power determining where they go mostly.
Schneiderlin has said before that he would be looking for Champions League games with his new club.

Our mistake was in thinking he might want to be a part of a squad hungry and determined to make it possible.

I don't disagree but even if there was a minuscule chance of getting him we should have gone for it

I'd imagine we did. At the end of the day if he had a straight choice between us and United he was always going to pick them. Despite the fact he probably wont play every game.

some people just don't get it, yes we all love Spurs and would love the chance to play for them but that does not mean
everyone else would.

Anyone that seriously thought he would pick us over UTD needs a brain transplant. If he is going to leave a reasonable Southampton side it will be to win trophies and play in the best competitions in Europe not Europa.

Can anyone remember the last time we signed an established top player from this league from a rival? Any signing for CM will likely come from overseas even with the McCarthy link. They represent better value and we are a bigger draw for them and can afford to pay better salaries generally. I doubt the club actually wasted too much time chasing this one down before realising 1. Southampton wouldn't want to sell to us and 2. He probably didn't want to move for the same level of football.

Glad we can move on and forget about this one now. Anyone saying we should've paid the money last year is forgetting the facts.

1. Morgan said he wouldn't decide on a move untill after the world cup. After which...
2. The Chairman said they had sold enough players and no more would be going.

This ship has sailed

Not too hard to figure out that he will play more often than not.

Schweinsteiger is now 30, and managed less than 18 starts per season on average for 4 years. He loves an injury.

Blind is shit.

Carrick is THIRTY FIVE

Fellaini failed as a CM, and hit form again further up the pitch.

Herrera, is up and down, in more ways than one.

The hilarious thing is, they still won't win the league, because they have the same shit centre halves, and 1 centre forward.
You do realise that United are probably going to buy a world-class CB and a world-class Striker. I'm not laughing.

Well we have no oil money or an owner who splash the cash..... We will not make any world class signing with our budget. We also miss out targets of big potentials like Imbula as the fees are way beyond what we have in mind. So let's lower our expectation.

They could probably buy whoever they want apart from players at Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Diego Costa?
Aguero?

I can't think of anyone that is both on their level, and available to Man United.

Arsenal have the same issue really. Giroud is 2nd rung.

Throwing Adebayor, Paulinho, Capoue, Stambouli, Chiriches, Fazio and Kaboul out the door to pay a silly fee and wages for an awesome CM would be totally worth it.

Didn't he say World class?

Is Benteke not? Certainly has the potential to be.

Edit: I can see for the above your classifying world class as the top tier of players rather than players who perform well at a world level.
