Having an option such as Carroll, not only to keep our options open at the start of games, but to offer something entirely different at the end of matches when things get tight, namely the ability to get forward and get involved in those tight spaces, could be crucial. So I think continuing to stockpile these more physical options isn't a wise idea, as we limit our options late in games and make ourselves entirely too predictable.

Just because Bayer L are in the CL does not mean we can't get Lars Bender. Ajax were in the CL and we took their two best players on separate occasions. Money, PL and London do have their advantages like I said. They are only in the qualifying round of the CL anyway, and are not a European elite club.

In all fairness, the team he was loaned out to is one of the top teams in Bosnia

That's close to what we sold Modric for who is truly world class. As good as Schneiderlin is he's not close to Modric's quality.

As I remember it, it was Caulker who made a comment, and it was a nasty comment about Lewis' daughter while on the squad's visit to Uncle Joe's boat that summer which the wrong set of ears overheard.

That is complete rumor of course. I don't remember anything at all about Carroll saying anything at the time. Maybe it's that he made it in jest to Carroll and that's where the association came from (if it's at all true of course).
