So this is quite strange. I've been thinking for a while that I can't remember going to a game on a bank holiday weekend in August and us winning. so thought I'd double check and our results on the August bank holiday weekend are dreadful. Have a look at this:

Today 1 all v burnley

2016/17 - 1 all v Liverpool

2015/16 - nil nil v everton

2014/15 - lost 3 nil to liverpool

2013/14 - beat Swansea 1 nil

2012/13 - 1 all v west brom

2011/12 - lost 5 1 to Man city

2010/11 - lost 1 nil v Wigan

So in the last 7 seasons we've won one game. That is weird. Anyone guess why?

Also we always play at home on this weekend.

Slow start/shit start.

Weird really.

I have this strange feeling about football at the min. Like, this season doesn't feel like it's started. I feel I've lost a bit of interest in it.

I also, probably wrongly, have basically written off this season already. Since the end of last season, I have not been looking forward to this one.

I think we'll finish outside the top four if I'm honest. Maybe 5th/6th.

I don't like to write the team off, and if we'd have won the first three games I'd probably be feeling a bit differently about it. But even so. I just feel a bit disconnected from football right now.
I'm hoping that things improve.

I'm not trying to be purposely negative, but I do feel a bit indifferent about this season.

Correlation not equal to causation.
My 2 cents, we are just slow off the start, every single year!

Be it transfer window or tough first couple of fixtures etc.

PS: Mind you, good observation, kudos to you!

It's also because last season was such a freak season winning 17 games at WHL. That's ridiculous whichever way you look at it and we as fans just aren't used to not winning at home now.

I suppose this thread could also be viewed positively. I.e. We always start slowly so it's not something to get our knickers in a twist about.

Maybe just maybe we'd have better starts to each season if we did our business in the window before the season starts in future.

I can remember when we got 2 points from the first 8 games. Anyone else remember that?

A clear factor must be that, under Levy, we never play our first 3 or 4 games with the new signings expected to reinforce the team. Look at Sissoko last year. Made no sense to anyone, but presumably Levy thought he could get him at the last moment by only wasting £25m.

Even Huddersfield started the first game of the season with the bulk of their signings made. Spurs may have only won the League Cup under ENIC, but in Levy's mind he's won the Summer Transfer Trophy over a dozen times.

Ah well, I guess we'll have to console ourselves with top 5 in 10 of the past 12 seasons, with us finishing in our best position since the 60s last season, having never before finished even top 6 in the premier league era, despite Levy's ineptitude.
