Which game was it where he demanded to take the penalty? Has he been seen since. Genuinely cant remember.
Man City. Lamela was down to take penalties. Son was in the wrong.

hertyid responding to various conspiracy theories:
Firstly Lamela was supposed to be taking the penalty against City. If anyone got a bollocking it was Son.
Slightly abusing a stats there, Lamela scored 5 in the league last season, with 9 assists in 34 games. His other 6 goals came against Monaco, Fiorentima and Quarabag. In the league Eriksen scored only once more in the league but assisted 13 times in 35 games. Dele score 10 goals and assisted 9 times in 33 games.More than the 1 in 3 that he scored last season?
I would say 11 goals (& 9 assists) in 35 games is fairly decent for an attacking midfielder. Only our primary striker (Kane) scored more than that last season.
Maybe we should replace him with Isco, because Isco scored 3 in 29 last season and 4 in 36 the year before...
Lamela had the ball and was walking over to the spot when Son tried to take the ball off him then Rose comes in to talk to Son who has already walked away.He took the ball out of Sons hand though, didnt he?. Has he played since the incident?

My argument being that Lamela gave us a decent output but still only fractionally better than 1 goal involvement every 2.5 games. The other two produced something better than once every 2 games. You can't even argue that Lamela's role is the least likely to get him into the final third as the other two both spend considerable more time dropping into deeper midfield positions, especially Eriksen.
My frustration with Lamela is that with his natural skill, his great work ethic and his obvious physical gifts he should also be a 1 in 2 player. That he isn't makes him the easiest AM to improve on. By further comparison, Son had 3 assists and 6 goals in 17 appearances this season, Dele has 10 goals and 1 assist in 19 games, Eriksen has 5 goals and 7 assists in 19 games. When Lamela is fit again he'll need have a task to get ahead of any of those, right now he's probably ahead of Sissoko and Nkoudou but that's it.
For what it's worth, I've long felt that with the right training, his combative style, technique and forward thinking approach could see him reconfigured to compete with Dembele at CM.

Lamela and Son both out for petulance. Neither are good enough anyway.
Can't believe this has got so many negative ratings.
It's not really wrong is it?
Lamela is a decent player but we're 2 wins away from breaking our longest ever premier league winning streak and they've all come without him.
I certainly wouldn't say Lamela is our most key player (or amongst the most vital few), but I really don't think any one player is key to our team performing well. As long as most of our starting XI is available, we are capable of being a real force.
We might be on a great run without him right now, but the winning streak started five weeks after Lamela's injury, so I don;lt see any correlation between the two. Immediately after Lamela's injury, which coincided with Kane's return, we actually only managed to win one of the following six matches (in all competitions). This suggests that neither Lamela's absence nor Kane's return was responsible for our improved form. I would say our team has simply started performing better and that Lamela will be strongly in contention for games as soon as he shows he is capable of playing well enough. (Equally, I laughed at the idea of Vertonghen weakening our defence when he came back in for Wimmer at the end of last season...our team simply stopped performing).
Also, we dominated Man City with Lamela in the team but no Kane or Alderweireld.
He played in plenty of games when we weren't playing well tooWhat about the matches before the winning streak started when we weren't playing well and he was out injured?
I don't get people's criticism of son or lamela, u look at our squad and our best 11, they're both clearly role or supporting players and for Tottenham to have such quality in the squad is fantastic and should be seen as good things to come. Especially when imo both son and lamela have another level to their games.Lamela and Son both out for petulance. Neither are good enough anyway.
For someone who quotes other posters as funny you don't half come out with some gemsLamela and Son both out for petulance. Neither are good enough anyway.
