So then the Q becomes will Levy change a habit of a lifetime and take a bit of a hit on Doherty or Emerson so we can move them on quickly and get in a player of real quality.

I won’t hold my breath.

Come on mate. He clearly would have taken a hit on Gio and Ndombele if teams were will pay out for them. There was talk of Gio being available for 25m but his wave demands and the fact most European teams are skint is a real problem. And it will probably be the problem trying to flog Emerson.

We’re not moving our current first choice right back, Conte would be fuming
Never said we were, just saying he might be easier to move. Wouldn't call any if them first choice, none of them have been able to nail down the spot.

To sign Porro we will have to sell or loan Emerson at the very least basically.

Even if Spence goes on loan, there’s no way Levy will sanction £40m on a third foreign right back.

So if Spence does go on loan, I still don’t think it means Porro is coming in unless we manage to shift Emerson too.

As much as I kind of understand the need to create space (lose a rwb) before signing a new shiny rwb, the longer we leave it, the longer we don't benefit from it.
I would hate for the kid to come in and everyone expect miracles against the likes of Arsenal or Citeh with next to no integration time to the league, the country, his team mates or Contes style

“Current” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Yes, he’s started the last few but I don’t think Conte has shown a real preference. His main two options ar equally bad.

No chance we get a deal done before Arsenal. I’d say best case scenario is we get Porro in by the end of the month, and in time to face City at home.

I get the one out one in thing but does it have to be in that order?
I know you take a chance of not getting a good fee for the out if you buy in first but you also take the chance of not getting the one you want if you don't.

You're probably right, based on years of how we operate. There is zero for us to gain by waiting.
Sporting have made it clear they won't accept less than his release, but other clubs also know the fee.
They might not be wanting him today, but tomorrow could see an important injury to their rb position.
Even if we do sign him, the longer we wait, the longer it is until he acclimitises etc, and also longer until he improves the team. An extra point here and there could literally mean the difference between 3rd and 7th this year

Is Nico Schira a reliable source?
He’s followed by over 250k people and quite a few reliable people to.

He’s claiming we have an agreement in principle with Pedro Porro over a contract until 2027 ??‍♂️

And Fabrizio Romano has retweeted his post about him being our main target.

Unfortunately Schira is one of the worst sources around. A complete bullshitter.

then I think this Porro deal is in trouble. If the whole of Europe knows we’re after a new RB, they’re even less likely to match Levy’s inflated prices for our unwanted players. Not to mention Royal hasn’t set the world alight. When this RB saga inevitably drags to Jan 31st, I just hope Porro is still available!

This is ridiculous. To buy a player who will immediately improve the starting 11 in a January window for 40 million is a bargain

when we are talking about an upgrade to one of our weakest positions in the squad which also happens to be a particularly key position for Conte’s approach then we should be falling over ourselves to get this done and just thank our lucky stars there is a release clause that is actually perfectly reasonable

I don’t think we will get him. We will send Spence on loan but fail to shift Emerson and will be stuck with him and Doherty as the right wing backs until the summer.
