Also just like to add that Mason is fast becoming my favourite player.

Gets right into people, fights, doesn't give up, will be a bit naughty if needed, gets in their faces and gives it billy big spuds - just gets under the other teams skin. If he can add a few goals to his game....

Would be nice if next season we could have Walker, Dier, Rose, Mason, Pritchard and Kane in the England squad (maybe even Townsend). I can but dream.

I actually think Rose should be in the next squad along with Bertrand at LB. Bertrand has been the stand out in that position this season but I'd say Rose should now be ahead of Gibbs, Baines and Shaw based on form.

I've got a sneaky feeling Mason will get a call up sooner rather than later - especially if he keeps putting in performances like he did yesterday.

Right there with you with that. He showed in the Academy team that he can score goals so I reckon that'll come for him at this level. He's gotten into to some good positions (such as against Utd) and isn't afraid to bomb beyond the front men when the time is right. He showed yesterday and against Forest that he's got fantastic technique in how he strikes the ball as well. I reckon, rightly, he's being quite cautious to keep the team shape most of the time at the moment but he might be allowed a bit more freedom in some games.

I'd agree. But Roy seem cautious in internationals (at least until recently) wanting to keep possession. Not sure if Rose or Mason would be his cup of tea. Which is a shame because they are what England need.

Love the guys passion and work rate and he's not afraid to leave a foot in on occasion. Exactly what we needed. The other parts of his game will come with time.

As this is the Mason thread, all this talk about Kane for England, Ryan Mason is who should be playing for England.

Shades of Bryan Robson, the work rate is ridiculous. Mason is having one helluva season, going about it quietly where Kane gets the applaud.

Yes but according to some Lamela is way better - wonder if we can check if Lamela can qualify for England through some tiny loophole? ;-)

I wonder if he's an outside bet for an England call up? Personally I think it's too early and he's not ready but if he keeps this up then he could be on the squad for the summer qualifying games and friendlies.

I think he's been fantastic. What he has done is set a benchmark for all others who want that CM spot, be they established players or youngsters breaking through. They know the first thing they have to do is match his work rate and commitment or they've got no chance. Mason doesnt need to be a world class, mercurial talent, his attitude is his biggest asset, and it means as much to the development of our team as Kane's goal scoring ability.

Couldn't agree more, MOM for me on Saturday, was a monster performance, and we have to look at it that he will get better.

I saw a heat map of his first 45 minutes & he was all over the pitch. He covered so much ground & I didn't see him slowing down in the 2nd half either. He appears to be the kind of player that every team needs but seems to keep a low profile in terms of media recognition/accolades.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was picked for the friendly after next. The only thing that might hold him back is the huge level of competition he's up against. In the last squad, the four deep lying mids were Downing, Milner, Wilshere and Henderson. Add to that you've got Carrick, Delph, Shelvey, Colback, Cleverley, Carroll, Noble, Nolan, Cattermole, Cork, Livermore, Huddlestone, Gardner, Westwood and Ward-Prowse (and maybe Rooney to add in the mix seeing as he's been shifted back) who can play there.

I'd say of those Ward-Prowse is probably ahead of Mason in terms of new players breaking through. Other than that I reckon only Carrick and those picked for the last squad deserve to be ahead of Mason now.

And add to that Roy was there to see it as well

Different player. Technically probably a better player, but still needs time.

However I do believe lamela warrants his place in the team, he actually adds a lot more then what a lot more think, certainly in terms of team pressure. He's doing a great job for the team.

This lad needs a song, if he hasn't got one already.

And not just something boring like
Super, Super Ry
Super, Super Ry
Super, Super Ry
Super Ryan Mason.

He's been my favourite player since coming into the squad. So much energy and passion. Love how he celebrates every goal. All the talk is about Kane, and he deserves it,but Mason has impressed me just as much as Harry. A couple more goals is all he's missing.

He's not afraid to be a nasty fucker either, and he's brought about of fight to the team. He gets in people's faces and I think we've missed something like that for a few years.

He and Bentaleb have a good partnership too which is great. Hopefully our CM pairing for years to come.

How about a bit of Disney? To the tune of 'Gaston' from Beauty and the Beast:

Noooo, oooonnneeee fights like Mason,
Or excites like Mason,
No one gives the opponent a fright like Mason,
And the best part of all he's a yid,
He's Tottenham's thirty-eight

And repeat.

I'll let myself out :oops::sorry:
