Can certainly see Mason in and out of the team over the next 5 years or so, a good player with an outstanding performance today.
Unfortunately I think Bentaleb has Bayern written all over him.
How about a bit of Disney? To the tune of 'Gaston' from Beauty and the Beast:
Noooo, oooonnneeee fights like Mason,
Or excites like Mason,
No one gives the opponent a fright like Mason,
And the best part of all he's a yid,
He's Tottenham's thirty-eight
And repeat.
I'll let myself out
Thought this from Scholes was very apt for this thread:
The Salford-born player added: "In the periods of my career when I stopped passing the ball forward, or when I stopped looking for the risky pass that might open up a defence, the consequences were the same. The manager stopped picking me.
That's the way Mason plays, so, those nit picking at his, sometimes, sloppy passes shouldn't be so harsh on him. It's clear Mason has the role of getting the ball forward as quickly as possible and our tempo is so much better with him in the side.
Thoughts @iluvsteffenfreund ?
Exactly. He won't have the same pass completion stats as Dembele or even Paulinho, but that's because he takes the sort of risks necessary if we're going to avoid the tedious sideways football we had under AVB.
The best thing is that Mason's not even played enough games to constitute half a season. The more he plays, the more he'll understand the movement of the players around him, and those players will learn when to anticipate Mason's passes.
It still fascinates me how Mason was up top a lot for our youth teams and has then slotted smoothly into a deeper midfield role for the first team.
Because if there's one thing Bayern need it's another CM?
I'm sure I read ages ago that he said he used to study Modric in training and was trying to learn as much as he could from him. It might have been Carroll who said that though, anyone remember?
Was Carroll.
Oh well I'd imagine he would have learned from him too though, even if it wasn't him that did the interview.
Yes they aren't going to buy him tomorrow night are they
I couldn't agree more. Too many looking at his age and expecting more when they should be looking at his games played. Not even prem games but first team games full stop. Sure, we could spend £30m and upgrade him but I still think we have no way of knowing what his ceiling is and I, for one, am excited to find out. Loyalty works both ways, if we keep complaining when players leave us, we shouldn't complain if we won't give players the chance to make it with us.
Good article... I was reading a similar one in glowing reference to dembele by Jamie carragher just yesterday! Seems now we are making people stand up and notice our players after putting a few results together!I couldn't agree more. They could do with another CM playing CBBecause if there's one thing Bayern need it's another CM?
They could do with another CM playing CB
Or convert one of their full backs to midfielder so all their lovely midfielders can sit on bench and keep each other company and have slumber parties
