Yeah, that's a big part of it as well. Serge said as much in preseason interviews as well. Also down to having a proper pre season. He didn't train with psg much last summer, can't be easy coming into a Poch side in England at full back and not feeling truly conditioned for it.
I would love us to play him and KWP and sell Trippier, who is not going to get any better and is a total liability in a back 4.As usual, new player to a new league needs time to bed in....he showed glimpses last season and he's become a bit more consistent this season
And I think he is slowly improving his crossing. Some good curly balls to the box in last games.
People complaining about our fullbacks crossing needs to realise that it's not necassarily too much wrong with their crossing itself, it's just that hopeful crosses into the mixer is a very ineffective way of attacking. It's easy to deal with for defenders. When a player like Trippier has about 10 unsuccessful crosses per game, it's not because he's bad at crossing.
Teams will often leave him with space to get a cross in, since he likes crossing, and crossing is easy to deal with. Cutbacks, or fullbacks running in behind to play volleyed passes between the goal and the goal keeper is a whole other ball game in terms of efficiency.

To no surprise he looks better with Toby next to him. Is he great? No, but unfortunately he's the best we have right now. It's just going to be hit or miss with him.
Trippier has been horrid all season in defense. Neither are good enough, but I'll take my chances with Serge over Trippier. No, he really isn't. Positionally he's is probably the worst fullback we have had in 15 years. Constantly being sucked into positions he has no right to be in. Constantly committing to challenges he has no way of winning, exposing our CBs. Constantly jumping in when he shouldn't. I genuinely don't understand why he gets rated so highly.
He can't even run his way out of trouble because contrary to popular opinion, he has no pace. If you watch him he very rarely beats his man and when he does, generally his decision making is poor.
Regardless of other bad performances today (of which there were many), he was comfortably the standout under performer on the pitch. The impact his positional naiivity has on the game and team is unrivalled. It unnecessarily drags midfielders in to cover the space and leaves his CB continuously exposed.
He gets very lucky generally with Toby behind / alongside him but today really showed the impact he can have on not only our play, but the influence this space can have on another teams tactics.
